Lovely walk , you can set off from the picnic site ( reached by driving through Neo Chorio village) or walking along Adonis Trail and diverting off. There are two walks from the picnic area, one shorter than the other. There is a information board at the site to show you these walks. You need good walking shoes or walking trainers to complete. The long trail can be hot and in full sun part way. You need plenty of water with you. We usually complete in May or October.

Lovely walk. Not too strenuous (we did the short route). Quiet area. Well sign posted. Beautiful views of the peninsula and the sea either side. I recommend at least good trainers as there are some loose stones in places. The first bit is a climb that took us about 15 minutes (We’re fit) but it shouldn’t be too intimidating for most people. Say hi to the mountain goats! The very last bit of road to the picnic car park looks scary for regular car but actually someone just drove on the wet tarmac. It’s fine.

The views are great along this trail, and it is not very difficult. It's wonderful mid February and early spring with the many wild flowers around, cyclamens etc.

Went today for a walk which was glorious and highly recommend. However there was a massive hunt with about 50 men in orange and lots of 4x4's with at least 4 dogs (seemingly well looked after) in the back of each car. Akams is a nature reserve and public area, so hunting does not seem to be the right choice for that area. Lots of signs to say no hunting yet the authorities have hunting days Sundays and Wednesdays. Nothing had a chance there today! Not sure we would have enjoyed our walk if hunt was actually in progress. Guns present too.

Beautiful walk in the Akamas with views to both sides of the island. The walk is easy, a bit of rough terrain here and there but generally a wide and easily recognisable trail. Wear normal walking or hiking boots. We did the walk in just under two hours, including frequent photography stops. If you do this in summer, bring lots of water as quite some parts of the trail are un- or semi shaded. Views are exceptional on both sides, first towards the Lara beach side, and then passing across the peninsula towards the Polis, Latchi, Aphrodite baths side. We were lucky to have chosen an exceptionally clear day granting us views of the Turkish coastline! Kids loved it too.

We live locally and regularly walk this trail, one of many on the Akamas.

The trail starts at the Smigies Picnic Site beyond Neo Chorio.

My advice for casual hikers is to do the route counter-clockwise. The assent this way is longer and therefore easier. Going clockwise is more demanding.

There is a signposted "shortcut" that lessens the overall distance - the full circuit being slightly less than 6km - but this only works on the clockwise route. Take it on the counter-clockwise path and it actually makes the walk longer.

Whichever route is taken gives nice walking and great views.

From the nice shaded picnic spot at Smigies there are two separate trails, of 3 km and 5.7 km in length. There is the option of taking a shortcut to shorten the 5.7 trail. The views are great across both sides of the Akamas. The trails are reasonably easy to follow but take plenty of water, wear proper footwear and avoid the mid day heat in summer. If you have a phone and download maps.me (Cyprus) all the routes are clear.

May temperature was a little high and difficult to find as the sign had been knocked off. Go to Neo Chorio and keep following the road for 2 km when the tarmac finishes. Quite a steep climb at first but you will be rewarded with beautiful views. We tend to walk 6-8 miles so bear that in mind. Talk water. There is a short 2km walk but we took the long one which was probably around 5 miles (although advertised as 5km) Well signposted. Dropped into Periyiali restaurant in Latch for a great lunch

Did the 7.5 km trail last Sunday. It took us 2 hrs and 15 minutes but with several stops to take pictures and enjoy the great views. It was very quiet on the trail which we like, only saw 6 other people walking. Saw some lizzards, goats and a few birds.

Finding your way is not difficult although I agree with others that it can be a bit confusing at the crossing point with the two other trails, the Aphrodite and Adonis trails. They could put the name of the trail on the "arrow" sign boards to make it more clear.
The slow and relaxing drive from Paphos with rental car took about one hour, beautiful landscape. If you like walking this is a Must do !

Walking from the picnic site the paths are clearly defined and easy to follow. On the day we did the circular trail it was very hot but armed with a plentiful supply of water we enjoyed the walk and were pleased to find a bench seat at the top with great views of both sides of the Akamas peninsula.
