- DaveHanmerLiverpool, United Kingdom76 contributionsVery good pricesThis is part of the old town of Paphos and overlooks the whole bay of Paphos. You get the 610 bus from the Harbour Bus terminus up to the Market. For your information where the bus drops you off you either can take the lift or walk up the steps, once at the top turn left and its just around the bend on the right hand side. Great bargains and reasonably priced, especially comparing prices to the "Tourist" shops down in Paphos itself. There is no real hard sell, but you do seem to get tagged and followed around some of the shops which put me off a little, but with saying that the other shops in Paphos is no different. Also on your ascent to the Market there is a Cafe Nero which is lovely to sit out in having your drink and the views right across Paphos bay is wonderful.Visited March 2020Written March 10, 2020
- GwespyrRhyl, United Kingdom2,034 contributionsWorth a look if in the Old TownThe market is located in the old town (Ktima Pafos) and can be reached by service bus (No. 610 single ticket costs 1.50 euros per person) from the Harbour Station in Kato Pafos. It is covered and has been modernised fairly recently and has a good selection of clothes shops, craft shops, cafes and restaurants as well as souvenir shops. It is not very large so it does not take long to go around it. The view of the coast from the footway outside is good and there is a delightful statue there called 'Little Girl with a Sparrow'.Visited November 2022Written December 3, 2022
- Kristen TStuttgart, Germany802 contributionsNice for a strollMy husband and I walked around the market on our final day in Paphos. I enjoyed some window shopping and finding a few souvenirs to take home. If we had more time, sitting at a cafe enjoying a coffee and people watching would have been nice. We also saw some fun street art while strolling around. This was not like some markets in other cities we have visited (not as much hustle and bustle or local food sellers), but it was still a nice way to spend some time on a sunny afternoon.Visited February 2023Written February 5, 2023
- Peyia123Larnaca, Cyprus45 contributionsCentral area of market closed for renovation! We live in Cyprus & have previously visited the market-unfortunately today arrived to find the central area of the old market closed as it’s undergoing renovation. The only stalls were a few open in the new part of the market that were added during some previous renovations several years ago. Looking upon their face book pages couldn’t see any updated information about the current works unless I missed it! Other information on the internet also doesn’t appear to mention these works! Would be nice to know how long this renovation will continue for & some information about the aims & objectives of these works! Hopefully it will be an improvement to what it was like as it had a very tired feeling & seemed to close very early lots of occasions!Visited December 2021Written December 6, 2021
- RSS94Hounslow, United Kingdom117 contributionsEnjoyable day outCouldn’t understand why the reviews were so bad for the market as it’s a nice place to just spend a bit of time in the day. We visited in the day and it was very quiet - it is full of a lot of tourist type souvenirs, but it’s nice if you want to get one or two things to take back with you. We found a lot of the bars only opened later in the evening but we enjoyed having a few drinks at the cafes/bars that were open - all reasonably priced and much quieter than the places on the harbour which was well suited to us. Highly recommend the souvlaki place for a gyros too. Get the 610 bus from the harbour.Visited October 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten October 20, 2021

This really was a bit of a disappointment it certainly was not what we were expecting. We were expecting a big old building filled with lots of stalls full of traditional goods, souvenirs and everything that tourists might not even want. As we entered through the large arched doorway it was clear this was completely not what we were anticipating. It was a series of shops along corridors which surrounded a courtyard enclosed by modern glass doors. In fact when we were here workmen were at work in the courtyard. The shops constantly mainly of clothing, leather goods, jewellery and handbags, all very similar. We had a quick walkabout and left. Despite a number of signposts this was was not the easiest of places to find at in the end was not worth the effort or energy to find it. The streets outside and around the market were more interesting and lined with small arts & crafts, speciality and tourist shops. It appeared that most of the area had been demolished and the shops were housed in new buildings.Visited October 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2022
- beth69 contributionsA disappointing areaAfter watching videos on YouTube about the market I was really looking forward to visiting but we just couldn’t find it. The old town is really hard to navigate. We found a lovely little cafe and had some lovely fresh juices and walked around a few little shops but I wouldn’t really call it a market it was opposite the cafe Nero area. We tried again one evening but the whole place was closed up at night apart from a couple of sea food restaurants. It was a bit disappointing.Visited July 2022Written July 21, 2022
- Gilbert MGlasgow, United Kingdom24 contributionsCan't recommend for holidays in 2023The tourist part of Paphos at the bay is a tip just now (April, 2023). A large part of the centre looks like a building site, and there would seem to be many months yet before the work is complete. We came here because of a nice week's holiday five or six years ago, but the place is a teriible let-down this time.Visited April 2023Written April 8, 2023
- Jay MDrogheda, Ireland28 contributionsGreat Views.A great place to visit when in Paphos. Lots of great merchandise, food, views, and character. Some contemporary updates are taking place, but the area still holds some old time charm. Cafe Nero has taken up a prime spot, and is a good spot for an Americano.Visited February 2020Written February 28, 2020
- FoodieQueenLondon, United Kingdom404 contributionsDont have any expectations 😕We decided to pop in on Saturday Morning. The parking is via the app which we declined to decipher and found a parking spot round the corner. It’s a weird thing to be in sunny Cyprus and crave a bland Marks & Spencer sandwich. But we were, and there are no sandwiches in this local branch 😢 It is stocked with the dregs of the clothes from previous sales, and sales before that and so on. Back to the market it’s a nice walk through the streets but all shops are stocking the same nylon style clothing, poor Z list quality replica handbags and souvenirs. I love shopping but nothing took my fancy. Kids football tops were quite cheap but again I don’t hold much hope for them in the wash. Lots of outside seating and cafes. No sign of any fresh produce or fruit/veg market. Do Cyprus not have a street food scene? A couple of stalls doing fresh falafel/salad in pitta would have been perfect!Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 16, 2023

As it was only the second week in the season there were not many stalls open but the places that were are packed with everything you need. Leather goods, football shirts, sweets and 'trinkets'. Can't wait to go back when it's busier. One thing I will say is the lift wasn't working so it is quite a climb from the bus stop.

Paphos Town a live construction site. Wander freely amongst the excavators and concrete mixers. Listen to the sound of drills, whilst eating your moussaka. If you want to see an authentic Greek Cypriot construction site and be able to wander through a live working site whilst they lay sewer, water, electric and communication cables, then now is the time to visit.

It’s an easy bus trip but not the biggest of markets. Great if you like your genuine fakes but they aren’t cheap and you can’t barter. Some aggressive selling tactics so stay firm. The cafes were lovely and family run.

What time do tourist shops shut

I’m not sure exactly but when we went back early evening 6-7pm everything was closed up like a ghost town as opposed to kato Paphos which was really lively and fully open. It’s a real shame as business will be slow coming back if they don’t open for tourists especially in the evening when it’s cool and people like to walk round.

You can get a bus from the Harbour station with the bus stop for the Old Town opposite the market. €1.50 each way. About 5-10 minutes by bus.

Certainly it was open Mon to Sat. I would not anticipate it being open on a Sunday though.
Hi where is the market and is it open in winter. Thanks

The market is in the old town. You can’t really miss it if you are up there as it is just up the road from the main old town car park. There is also a small fruit an veg market adjacent to the car park but the main shopping market is up the road. Whether it is open I. Winter I cannot say, but since Cyprus is a tourist destination all year round, I would expect it is.
