The jewel in Paphos' crown, in fact, that should read in the crown of Cyprus! Amazing mosaics that are absolutely stunning!
The House of Dionysus is located quite near to the entrance of the archaeological park and it is, on it's own, well worth the entrance fee but that is only 2.50 euro per person. The main part of the House is protected in a building which has been purpose built to stop the archaeology from being ravaged further by the elements. once inside the protective building the visitor walks on a raised level and looks down onto the mosaics.
It is well worth spending some considerable time looking and marvelling at the mosaics and there are explanation boards above each mosaics to explain what they represent and the story they tell.
There is also a QR code that the visitor can download in order to get an audio guide of the site.

Anyone interested in Roman remains must go and see this which is amazing.
The grounds are great and then you go into the area which was the villa which is completely amazing, the amount of work that has gone into the mosaics is incredible. There is also a visitors centre which plays really interesting film explaining how they managed to lift and clean the tiles when they were found, well worth a visit and a great price too.

This was one of the best attractions in the area and definitely worth the trip. It is part of the wider Paphos archaeological park. The mosaics were the most well preserved we saw on our entire Cyprus travels and we went to quite a few places.
I would recommend getting the free Pafos UNESCO Park app. It has a map of the site but also a selection of audio guides for each one and this described what was going on in each mosaic, which really increased our enjoyment of the site. However, the app is a bit glitchy, so you will need to keep interacting with the screen or the audio cuts out!

Our family found this exhibition to be the highlight of the Paphos archeological park. It has numerous rooms with beautiful mosaic floors depicting various scenes.
Access is granted as part of the archeological park entrance fees. Children enter for free. Parking is available for free close to the entrance of the park.

On our Holland America Tour, we toured the House of Dionysos, home of the Dionysos Mosaics. It is the most important area in the Neo Pafos Archaeological Site. We saw these breathtaking mosaics unearthed during the excavation of a Roman nobleman's villa from the third century AD. An extensive complex of buildings fitted with beautiful mosaic floors shows Roman legends and characters, but mostly represent scenes from Greek mythology. These are considered to be the finest mosaics in the Mediterranean, and perhaps in the world. These important mosaics are the only area that is protected by a special building.

We were a group of travellers from Canada, and visited this UNESCO World heritage site while in Cyprus. This is an active archeological dig site-1200 square meters with 556 sq m of mosaics. Truly magnificent I can’t imagine how they lived!
You can truly enjoy the beautiful mosaics, although the rest of the site is quite unimpressive. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity!

Located inside the archeological park is the house of Dionysus.
The mosaics are so well preserved that the villa is housed inside a building. All the mosaics are in situ with the exception of one and there are info boards describing the scenes.

Impressive, huge mosaics. Great photo opportunity. The man who owned this villa must have been a Roman multi millionaire. Huge numbers of patterns and individual scenes telling stories. A vast area. Several more buildings with long walks between them.

This is part of the archeological site.
The site is named after the Greek god of wine, Dionysos, who is depicted throughout the amazing flooring.
If you download the app it will give you an excellent audio guide (the details are at the entrance to the site).
It is really quite something to see all the mosaics. The detail is incredible and the different animals and scenes are really fascinating.

An amazing walk around a Roman site full of ruins and some absolutely amazing mosaics. Some were covered to protect them but the ones in the buildings were just stunning. A 4.5 euro entrance fee but it is absolutely worth it. Located by Paphos Harbour.
