WARNING!!! Only try and visit in right type of vehicle, rough terrain, steep hills etc.
Only wish we had taken our own advice as we went in a hire car hahahaha.
After many struggles, much patience & concentration, not to mention some
silent prayers, we finally arrived and found the venue closed.
This did not deter us as after some deliberation as group one of us climbed over very low wall and let rest in.
We took great care not to disturb or disrespect this Holly place and had good look round what was a beautiful, peaceful historic site.
Well worth the effort.
Thank you

Unesco heritage church near Salamiou and Pendalia.A beautiful country site.It is surrounded with mountains and a river. It is a very old building. It really worth visiting if you have a car. From Paphos is around 1h and you can also visit donkey far which is near or go to monaster of Salamiou a village near by.

A great place of excellent architecture. A monastery in the middle of nowhere. Worth the difficult trip on dirt roads. Make sure the place is open. We were there for a musical event of pafos 2017 supported by the surrounding communities. Magical,

Beautiful drive to admire the scenery, when you drop into the valley and see this beautifully restored monastrey. It really is so peaceful here and this place has an aura about it that is hard to explain. We came with our guide in a jeep and i reckon it would be difficult to access in only a car,so be prepared if you decide to visit.Beautiful landscape and scenery surrounding this special place. The dedication that has gone into the restoration is a sight to behold..A must see...

Came here with a 4x4 Safari tour and you could need to be in a 4x4 as its very remote and hard to get too.
However set in a valley with the hills around you it's quiet and peaceful and you can see why the monks built their monastery here.
Our Dutch guide Eric knew a lot about the monastery and explained the restoration work and the area too.
Beautiful and thought provoking

I wanted to visit this abandoned monastery since the late 90's, the period when its renovation completed and awarded with the Europa Nostra Prize. This is an authentic 16th century monastery with a church in francobyzantine style. I've drived with friends and their family through Salamiou/Pentalia village down the beautiful valley. The torrent Xeros was running from the mountains down the sea and the surroundings were bloomed and green. A must visit for real adventurers who are seeking for the authentic Cyprus!
PS: You can only drive by 4x4...!

March 2019 - Currently only accessible (by road) from E606 - 2 other roads cross the valley but the bridges and roads are incomplete!
Possible to walk in the valley floor but the river has moved to the eastern side and washed away the old trails.
Building is quiet and atmospheric having been rebuilt in the early '90's and the setting is tranquil for a picnic stop.
The old watermill nearby is worth a look as are any of the 4 others along this stretch of river valley.
