In a small group of 4 we enjoyed an informative tour of the Paphos district lasting around two hours. Regular stops were incorporated at which times Alex explained something of the history and landmarks of the area. Well managed tour with good and reliable machines.
Worth repeating when we come back in the Summer

We booked the tour through TUI and we were colĺected from our hotel by Mike who was to be our instructer and guide. The tour starts with a short training session followed by a visit to the harbour and along the coastline then onto the old town. Mike was very informative regarding the history of the area and we certainly enjoyed the experience that lasted around 3 hours

Only two couples on our tour so Mike was instantly on first name terms with all of us. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the ancient sites we stopped at. Cracked a few jokes along the way, yet carefully guided us round the trickier parts of the route. A great 2.5 hours in total and definitely a highlight of our holiday.

I was considering using this company for a Segway tour of Paphos, but had a query that I wanted to discuss with them. Having sent them an email (via their website) with my query and received an acknowledgement stating that I'd receive a response within 24 hours, I heard nothing further from them and more than 2 weeks later I've still heard nothing. That says a lot to me about how attentive they are to their customers. Needless to say the customer is not their priority! Fortunately their other main competitor "Try Segway" were much more on the ball and we had a wonderful trip with them instead. Sorry guys but you lost the fees from 5 adults who would have used you.....

The tour was so much fun :) We had the chance to see most of Paphos important sights in just a short period of time and the tour guides were really friendly and funny. Lovely experience :) Highly recommended!

Whatever you do in Pathos, you have to do this tour. The tour lasts for about 2 hrs with additional half hour training at the beginning. You get to see hidden away sites that we had not seen on previous visits and Lukas and Giota are so friendly and knowledgeable. The added plus is that there are photos taken on the way round which are sent to you so you have an excellent souvenir and one you don't have to pay anymore for, unlike other tourist events. Also a great way to get a suntan and take in history at the same time.

My wife and I recently went on this afternoon Paphos segway tour (June 2017) and it was ultimately very disappointing.

First of all - when booking this tour through TUI operator (Thomson), it was advertised as a 3 hour event, exploring parts of the Paphos region and taking in some of the interesting mosaics and history of the region.

I'm afraid to say that none of this occurred. It was definitely not a 3 hour event. You do not explore anywhere - you start at the harbour (which is lovely to be fair), you go along one coastal path briefly and then turnaround and come back the exact way you came. You do not take in any mosaics or anything in this regard - on the way back they simply tell you where you can go after you finish with the tour in the harbour to enter a historical sight to see these mosaics. Hardly the same thing! And the history is sadly lacking - one of the operators does tell you a couple of things (the other was called Liam who could not have cared less about the history of Cyprus), but the vast majority of the trip is simply them telling you puns, or making fun of each other. This is fine for a few minutes, but then really starts to grate on you as the time passes.

I even was forced to say to Liam about halfway through that I was looking forward to hearing some more history of the region - he answered me with a joke about something else, which perhaps says it all.

I therefore feel that the tour did not really proceed as advertised.

With the hotel pickup, and introductory training, I was expecting to be on a Segway for approximately 2 hours for the actual 3 hour trip. However my wife and I were only on a Segway for 1 hour and 15 minutes, which for the money we paid was a little lacking.

Also - it is important to bear in mind that about a third to a half of your tour will be just going back the exact way you came, which does not add anything and makes the tour feel even lighter on substance.

I feel the tour could be a lot better though (with an obvious quick win to be to establish a route to and from the office base that does not mean going back the exact way you came). There are some lovely sights along the coast, and the region does have some interesting history. I think the guys should spend a little more time giving some interesting history (about Cyprus, as well as the Paphos region) instead of just throwing puns around.

Also, it is disappointing that at no point can you move along side by side whilst on the Segways. So that means you cannot share any moment in transit with the person/people you are with. Talking over your shoulder is impossible, so you have to wait until the whole group stops before you can talk to each other. Whilst I think this is fine (and is a safety matter) crossing roads etc, there are occasions on the paths or quiet areas where this can be done easily and safely, however the guides will not allow anything other than single file at all times.

The tour itself also feels very slow, and if you've ever been on a Segway before you will feel like you're waiting to be allowed to move around properly (but it never comes). There must be areas where you can explore more freely and at normal speed, instead of the reduced rate you're forced to sit at here at all times.

A big issue for me personally was the pictures however - the operators take pictures of the group etc during the tour, to be placed on their Facebook page thereafter. I asked one of our guides to take a picture of my wife and I using our phone, with the coastal sea behind us. Unfortunately, he said that they liked to take all the pictures themselves with their camera, and assured me he would take some nice ones we could access later on the website instead.

Now, I feel that refusing to take one single picture on a tourist's camera is quite surprising for a tour operator to do. It is also very surprising that instead of taking pictures with the beautiful sea behind us, we were forced to have the backdrop of a fence and scrub-brush so we could pretend to hold the lighthouse on the hill in our hands. This may be a bit of fun, but don't do it at the expense of the beautiful sea backdrop!

I recently received the Facebook link after returning to the UK from the operators, and I looked up the pictures taken of our tour and located them for the date range they give you. There was only one single picture of my wife and I alone (the other two were group shots). This sole picture was poorly framed, with other segways and other people's shadows ruining what remained of this picture (as I said with a fence/scrub-brush behind you instead of the beautiful sea).

Also - even if I wished to keep this picture, if you download it directly from their Facebook page you of course get a reduced resolution copy of the original picture (which is not fit for printing). You would therefore have to e-mail the operators to ask them to e-mail the original (normal resolution) copy of the picture to you. What a faff! They might not even be able to do this (if they delete pictures soon after uploading them to Facebook).

What not just agree to take a few pictures with people's phones as well as this? It seems that my wife and I lost out on some lovely personal pictures of our trip here, just to ensure they got to obtain more group shots for promotional material for their business.

I will say that the chaps organising the trip etc, were friendly and good natured (I do want to make that clear). I think they just miss the mark with what these excursions could be, and certainly with what they are advertised to be.

I would say that if you have never been on a segway before, and you are just doing this to have an introductory ride around, then perhaps this would be an acceptable choice. However if you are looking to explore the island, or hear some history etc, then I would avoid this one and perhaps investigate one of the other segway operators in the area.

So glad we booked this. 4 of us went and after about 20 minutes instruction and safety briefing we were off....

All along the trip places of interest were pointed out and the history revealed.
The guide was super with a great sense of humour.

Totally hooked on these machines now. I would probably go again as it was so much fun.

€37 for over 2 hours of fun...what great value.

This tour is run by a fantastic group of people, who made our trip very memorable.
Our tour guide Lewis, was very knowledgeable about Paphos (past and present). The tour took us to some beautiful/historical locations and the Segways were easy, yet fun to opperate. Definitely one to recommend.
