A fantastic and intimate walk, would be perfect for couples!
Jan 2021
We visited Cyprus during the pandemic lockdown, so we were the only people in Avakas Gorge at the time - at least, I think that's why it was so quiet. We didn't have hiking boots, so didn't go all the way to the end. Crossing the stream 6-7 times was a bit tricky with fancy sneakers, but between the two of us we managed to not fall in, injure ourselves, or ruin said sneakers. It's an incredibly cute place - and there are little goats who are a bit annoyed to be scared off a stream by a curious photographer - they bleat from the bushes. About driving there - you cannot get to the parking lot in a sedan. We left our rental about 500 m away. Most roads in Cyprus are in good condition, but if you want to explore, consider renting a 4x4.

Nice-weather walk
Nov 2020 • Friends
Not recommend to go turning rainy days or winter time. But had nice walk there about 2 hours. Trail is about 7 km long but we only wanted to see canions. Really beautiful work of nature.

Indiana Jones to the exploration...!

Its an adventure trail that you should not miss. However, it is little bit difficult to walk through so be very carefull if you want to get children with you (preferably not). You will love it.

4x4 Safari
Oct 2020
Visited the Gorge as part of a 4x4 all day tour from Pathos. Well worth the visit - though you do need to be prepared to get your feet wet as you leap from rock to rock to work your way through the gorge! We loved it - but if you are in any way frail its probably not for you.

fun scramble!
Oct 2020
we went as last morning activity before flying from Paphos. It was a wonderful experience...shame we did not have more time to complete the gorge! So it is a stunning gorge on a small scale!....3 bits of advice...get there early...we arrived at 9.30 and there were 2 other small groups ....so we could get people free pics...by the time we returned, there was no chance as the hordes were arriving. Secondly as other posts say here unless you have a 4x4 (and we were lucky to have a compact suv so got out...though it was on the edge!)stop at the car park at the top of the hill maybe about 3-400m from where google maps say the gorge is. If you go down the hill you risk scraping the underside of your car and needing a tow out. Thirdly, yes you can either get wet feet or scramble over some slippery boulders...all part of the adventure!

Beautiful trail
Oct 2020 • Couples
We drove our car next to Viklari-restaurant and left it there. You can easily drive by normal car untill Viklari-restaurant parkingplace,no problem. But do not drive any further if you do not drive by jeep. From Viklari-restaurant parkingplace it is only about 200-300 metres to the beginning the gorge. It is very beautiful, amazing trail and worth for visiting. But it is also very difficult to walk because you have to cross big stones and slippery smaller stones by the riverp. Take good shoes and enough water . We saw some gauts and birds there and the only thing you can hear there is wind, river, birds and gauts. Really wonderful nature experience. Try it!

You WILL GET WET
Sep 2020
Avoid the crowds: hike all the way to the end. IF u bring dogs, keep them on a tight leash. You will get wet!

Definitely visit
Aug 2020
Get to the end! It does keep going and is worth it as there are a couple of bigger pools that are nice for a quick dip. Recommend parking at the top car park though and not the bottom one, it was a bit hairy trying to drive up the sandy and uneven track after our walk had to get three people to help push our hire car! Also head to Lara beach ofter, was a welcome treat to have a beer and a proper swim and worth the bumpy and slightly long drive. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g1943744-d2010884-Reviews-Lara_Beach-Paphos_District.html?m=19905

Stunning Gorge
Aug 2020
Absolutely beautiful trek to get to Gorge. Make sure you are wearing really comfortable trainers that are not slippery, be prepared to get wet and dirty and go early morning or later afternoon as heat unbearable.

Great experience
Aug 2020
I had read about this place on Tripadvisor, but didn't think it would be as great of an experience as it was. I really wanna recommend going here (But keep in mind, that you will need a 4-wheeler in order to go, because almost all the way is off-road), the views were stunning and the landscape in general was very interesting - I got some very epic photos od all the rock-formations. I would advise anyone who go here to wear sandals that fit very well, or at least shoes that are waterproof, and sits tightly on your foot, since there are alot of slippery rocks and water running through the entire Gorge (we met a lot of people in sneakers, and they had a very hard time getting around because they didn't want their shoes to get wet). But all in all it was a very nice experience, and i wouldn't skip going here, jsut because it is a little inconvenient going here
