A church in the capital
Aug 2019
Since I didnt have the best map on my stresssing trip to Nicosia and when I look at all photo I took then its difficult to see the difference in them after. I found this church between my photo and remember from the hot day it was the only one I almost went into for a rest time. But as clock runs and buses didnt go often I left that in the thinking box. I took photo from outside and will google it later for finding more info about it when I have better time. Now most write for having it in my history map here at instagram.

A very small Vyzantine church

The Church of Agios Antonios(within the walls) is located in the centre of the old town of Nicosia, very close to the Archbishopric Palace, the Cathedral of Agios Ioannis and the Mansion of Dragoman Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios. The church, given that it dates to the 18th century, belongs to the architectural type of single-aisled churches roofed with tiles usually built during the late period of Turkish rule. Of particular interest are the carved wooden iconostasis and the elaborately carved stone belltower of the church.

WONDEROUS AND NOT TO BE MISSED
Sep 2017 • Friends
This was my favourite little church and should not be missed. The whole church and steeple is in sandstone and looks great. However, it's jewel in it's crown is the interior with it's huge chandeliers lining the aisle up to the most amazing alter you will see and completely furnished in gold leaf. The caretaker poured me a coffee and glass of water while I was there too!

Nice Old Church within the Walls
Mar 2016 • Couples
The stone built Agios Antonios Church looks very similar to the St John's Cathedral; built in the 18th century with no Dome but very high Bells Tower. The main door is carved wood with arched stone; the front yard has beautifully designed tiles.

The Church is situated in the old Nicosia area within the walls and surrounded by narrow streets and old houses. Unfortunately we couldn’t take any photos inside the Church as was closed when we visited that day.
