We went in the beginning of september. We don’t recommend Cyprus museum. The only reason we don’t recommend it is because we are not archeologists. Because of the very little information that stands next to the fascinating finds it’s hard to stay focussed. We would like to know what the item were but we only were informed where they’ve been found.
The items you’ll see in this museum are very nice preserved items but because of the lack of information we don’t recommend it.

The museum is fairly compact, but has a variety of interesting Cypriot artefacts ranging from ancient pottery, weapons, coins, statues and more.
Great to get an understanding of the country’s history. I would recommend the audio guides which we unfortunately did not get.
Entrance is free. We found paid parking at one Euro per hour around 100 metres from the museum.
Would recommend for around one hour or so. Even our primary school children rated the exhibits.

A big and modern archeological museum located very closed to Nicosia city center. It has a very large collection of archeological findings of early inhabitant times of the island and you can learn many things about the history of the island.

Small museum with extraordinary collection. I am a frequent Archeology and ancient history museum goer but I have never seen anything like some of the oldest and unique pieces I saw here. Collection is labeled ( including in English) but I am sorry that I had not visited at the times when there was a Tour.
In addition there is bronze bigger than life sized statue of the first African born Roman Emperor that is worth admission by itself

There are plenty of museums in nicosia, but if you have to choose one, make it the cyprus museum.
It is packed with interesting objects and artefacts taken from the various sites in Cyprus. If you already visited one or more of these archeological sites, this is a plus.
We didn't read all tne information boards as we already read a lot in our guides, but focused on the pieces that really interested us.
Overall a pleasant visit and worth taking a little detour outside the old city walls.

Our group had only an hour so I raced round the museum to get an overview to decide where to spend most time and be sure of not missing anything. Make sure to see the two rooms showing gravestones with bilingual translations of the inscriptions, and the caves where burials took place. End with a photo by the outdoor columns.

A total treat to see such wonderful items. Well displayed items through the ages and nice that you can actually touch the sculptures. Whatever your interest might be, jewellery, ceramic, coins, there is something for you. The preserved ceramics are an amazing view into how creative ancient Cypriots were.

We were a group of travellers from Canada, and visited this extremely interesting museum while in Nicosia. Lots of ancient artifacts, with fascinating sculptures, statues, and cooking pots and utensils from a long bygone age. As Canadians, our country has basically only a couple of hundred years of identifiable history, and it is truly marvellous to visit thousands of years of ancient times. Worth a visit if your are in Nicosia.

I visited last summer 2022. I'm reviewing late as I didn't think to at the time. So why now? Because the museum of antiquities in Nicosia is one of the most astounding museums I have ever been in. It's the wealth of history in such a compact venue. You must visit if in Nicosia.
