Sign posted from the motorway and easy to find there is plenty of parking at the castle. It costs just a few euros to visit and is good fun to explore. The main building is the keep and you can climb from the basement to the roof for great views. There is also a lovely wall painting on the first floor. Next to the castle is a medieval sugar refinery but unfortunately while you could view it the actual building wasn’t accessible.

We were highly lucky to have an opportunity to see this on 3/4/2020 before Covid-19 virus contagion exploded worldwide and foreign tourism shut down. Protectors can pour hot oil from the top onto perpetrators assaulting the entryway below. The crusading King of England. Richard the Lionheart married his fiancee at Kolossi Castle who later became the Queen of England.

Dating back to the 12c but later rebuilt, originally home to Knights Templars. Well signed information boards. Interesting mediaeval wall painting, spiral staircase to the roof. Good long distance views. Interesting remains of a sugar mill, viaduct and water wheel adjacent. Worth a detour. Poor cafes adjacent, not worth using. Very cheap entry price of Eu1.25 each.
