The collection was initiated by the enlightened Demetrios Pierides in the 19th century and has been systematically enriched. The Pierides Museum is conveniently located in the commercial center of the city of Larnaka, parallel to the sea front. It can be characterized as one of the most important private museums of Cyprus, since the collection contains a significant and characteristic presentation of the civilization of Cyprus through the centuries. The Archaeological Collection is housed in the former, colonial style, residence of the Pierides family, built in 1825, where the visitor can travel through the ages covering 9000 years of the island's history, beginning from Neolithic times through to the Bronze Age, Geometric, Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine - Medieval Age.A very important cartography collection of old maps and charts of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean is also housed in the Museum, as well as the prized collection of Greek and Roman glassware.

A small museum with 5 rooms. A few very interesting things. No signs and enough explanations for what you see. Difficult in hot days of Cyprus summer because not all the rooms are Aircontitioned. A very kind receptionist is ready to give you informations. It has a good shop.

Local house privately owned, so there is an entrance fee but worth it. The current expo is on local views from victorian times, some other great things to see as well, leave at least 90 mins prob more.

OK it isn't as big as the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia but the quality couldn't be higher. For me the first room is the best with the Bronze Age and Chalcolithic (pre bronze age) material. The reviewer who was not impressed probably didn't twig that most of this stuff is twice as old (or more) as the Classical Greek things... More

Many antiquities and artefacts from BC times to more recent, saved by a family for the town of Larnaca. Only 3 Euro to get in & well worth a wee trip to see at the end of or on a cloudy day.

The Pierides Museum of Archaeology Has some ancient artifacts on display. Rather small and not a "must-see" Not as good as Nicosia Museums I'd say. For three Euros each it's a bit over-priced Photography is not allowed. There's nothing to picture, 'though quite nice, Goodness knows why they are so proud.

Dear visitor, Thank you very much for visiting our museum. As we are a private collection you cannot expect to have the amount of artifacts that the district and national museum in Nicosia has. We are proud of our collection as the history that follows it is important in the preservation of cipriot antiquity. The Pierides family have been instrumental... More

The Pierides museum is located in the city center of Larnaca 3 mins away from the beach. No entrance fee. Even though is not that big, without many exhibits, by visiting you get the chance to get to know many things regarding the history of Cyprus, tradition and customs. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Finally, there is a... More

This private museum is well worth visiting as much for its cultural treasures as for the building itself. Housed in the old family mansion, which was built in 1825, the museum features artefacts that represent 9,000 years of Cyprus' history and culture. The museum is quite small, but nicely set out and very well maintained. There's a very, very nice... More
