The castle is actually some sort of fortress and you can explore it from inside and outside. It has many different chambers and parts you can visit. Inside, there is also a shipwreck museum where you can see an old shipwreck. You can also climb the walls which reminded me a bit od the city walls in Dubrovnik.

The harbour view is the thing to really not miss. The inside courtyard is nice with plants and palms and there are several small interesting exhibitions dotted around the castle such as one on an ancient boat discovered and raised from the sea which is impressively on display. The entry was 20 TL for adult and 7 for student and took an hour to look around.

Well worth a visit, especially if you have a good guide as we did.
Plenty of walls to scramble up and admire the views of the harbour.
Only an hour tops to have a look around and that includes the museum with the remains of the old ship resued after 2,000 years.

We really enjoyed our trip to Kyrenia Castle which is in the harbour. There is a lot of information in English and plenty to see. The views are lovely and the ship museum is definitely worth within the castle is worth spending some time in. There is a cafe within the castle walls but we did not eat here so cannot comment on that. Allow a minimum of 2 hours for your visit. Recommended.

Was not sure if it would be worth the entrance fee given that many of the monuments in the north have not been maintained. We need not have worried although it has not had alot spent on the structure recently as walking on the top in the wind without sufficient railings emphasises, you feel much safer on the lower levels. There is more to see than first meets the eye although there are few explanation boards to explain the structure other than in the boat museum area.

As a castle, it does not really give much that you can't find in many old castles, and is not very well preserved. The great things are the views of the harbour, the courtyard which is a lovely place, and the church. The church used to be separate from the castle but then the castle expanded and enveloped it. There is clearly a lot of history in here, although it has been severely damaged over the years.

I enjoyed walking around this enormous castle. You are left to your own devices, and can walk almost fully around the ramparts. There are lots of passages leading off the large courtyard, going down into dungeon like areas, it was fascinating. The room with the wreck is also worth a visit. This castle, although needing some TLC, (cutting the grass, weeding and tidying up) was lovely. I would visit again.

We couldn't keep walking past this without going in. It feels a lot larger inside than it looks. I wish there was more information but it was nice to see where all the different influences came from. A bonus was the shipwreck museum.
From the top the views are stunning but can feel dangerous when it's windy and I wouldn't take small children up there.
