We had a fantastic tour of the vineyard with a very knowledgeable lady we think was called Maria. The wine tasting was very well presented and we really enjoyed all of the wines we tried - it was hard to choose which to buy at the end because we wanted them all! We also had some food in the restaurant which was really good, with a beautiful view across the vineyard. Absolutely fantastic and we can’t wait to come back and stay in the hotel and try out the spa.

We made a last stop at this intimate winery which had amazing views. Even though we hadn't booked a tour we were still able to get a private tour and do some wine tasting. It may be a small place but it was impressive to see behind the scenes and the red wine was fantastic. We actually bought a red and even a white to take home. This is definitely a must to visit but try to book a tour so a trip up the mountains isn't wasted.

We have visited Ethel Winery 4 times now and have given it the benefit of doubt as it is new and different to anywhere else locally. We were hoping it would get better as time went on but the food and service are not consistent. One time when we went to the wine bar, we actually had to show the wine waiter how to open a bottle of wine correctly, he seriously had no idea.
The situation of this winery is superb, the views are beautiful but we have yet to have a meal that warrants the prices we are charged. The last time we visited the starters were excellent but badly let down by the main courses and lack of good service. We ran out of water and had to shout for someone to replace it, no one came to ask us if our food was satisfactory either ......and to crown it all, a cat would not leave us alone and the next day we found we were covered in flea bites around our ankles.
The lack of staff training is quite apparent and we hope that this will change given time and that food is not hit and miss as it is at the moment.
We were very disappointed yet again.
We have not been to a wine tasting therefore cannot comment, this review is for food and service only

It was awesome to visit there, different types of wine in a good palace with a picturesque view of the Grape Garden. One of the best experience that i’ve ever had.

Very nice food from an Israeli chef! Nice wine, very nice place just on the vineyard. The only downside is that is quite expensive in comparison to other places in North Cyprus (the restaurant and the wines).

Visited restaurant with friends for the evening, the setting is beautiful it is up in the mountain with veiws down through the vineyards.
Staff are very attentive and proffesional , they brought us a appetiser of 3 types of bread and a an oil & balsamic dip which was tasty.
Starters where all very good I had the prawns wrapped in khadifi which was like shredded wheat and a "killer beetroot" sauce, very good.... everyone else enjoyed theirs too.
For main course I had the Lamb & Beef Kofte lots of flavours, my friend had the Salmon which was stuffed with cashew butter, she said it was the best she had had, it looked very nice.
We didn't have dessert because we where all too full.
We had their white wine with our meal which is great and easy to drink.
After we wondered over to their wine bar and there was a singer, Hasan Gunyuz which rounded off a perfect evening.
Would definitely reccomend it is a lovely evening with great food.

We headed up to Ilgaz and the Etel Winery set in the beautiful Gilham Hotel grounds. Maria took us on the tour, providing a fascinating insight into the fairly recent history of this vineyard and it’s wines. We had chosen a pairing with food and we sampled 6 delicious wines complimented by some appetisers. Afterwards we stayed at their wine bar and enjoyed a light tapas lunch washed down by their lovely Chenin Blanc. Wonderful.

We decided to sample a local vineyard wine tasting at The Etel Winery in Ilgaz, Kyrenia region of North Cyprus and it did not disappoint! We were met by Evrim who took us on a 15 minute guided tour of the winery (The vineyard was not available for a tour at the time of year we visited) and then a tasting of 6 of their wines (3 x white and 3 x red). Evrim was a great host and answered all of our questions, she even assisted us with suggested food pairing's for each wine which was very welcome. The location is fantastic, high up in the mountain range in the village of Ilgaz (so the views were stunning) and we just wish we had more time to be able to stay afterwards to visit the wine bar and sample some of the tapas style dishes on offer for lunch. We will be sure to visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting and cheese pairing. The tasting included a tour of the winery, which was brilliant. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The winery is in a beautiful location. I would like to return when the chocolate pairing is available.

We went there today on recommendation. Great facility, great view and terrible service. A black, muscular young man who was so unpleasant and unfriendly that I can only advise anyone not to spend their money there!
