A small quaint medieval monastery in the Troodos mountain. It’s free to visit and very pretty to look at. The real jewel though is the lovely wall paintings in the interior which are really stunning. It’s ok to take photos of the exterior but not inside.

This 11th century Greek Christian Orthodox church is another gem in beautiful Kakopetria village of Trrodos mountains. The UNESCO protected church is really wonderful with its frescos and lies peaceful in a lovely scenery. Worth visiting not not only the church but the whole area.

This church is all that remains of a monastery, but looks lovely in a very peaceful setting. The inside is lovely as well although, with all of these churches, it is not possible to take photos. The 11th century monastery declined in the 17th and was finally abandoned in the 18th. In the church there is even a 12th century fresco.

Another of the 10 UNESCO World Heritage Site Painted Churches of Cyprus. This church really represents how the local people celebrated their faith. Their are much more elaborate churches and monasteries around, but if you like the original authentic item, consider visiting. The only negative was that when we visited there was no guide in English available—so bought the book detailing 20 of the painted churches.

Peaceful place. If you visit an old village nearby (Kakopetria), a ride to this church will not take more than 10 minutes. It definitely worths a visit.

visited the church first time few days ago and I impressed a lot!
Very beautiful, unique church under the “umbrella” of UNESCO, worth a visit for sure if you are in the area.

A visit to this unique church is a must when visiting the Troodos. Close to the beautiful village of Kakapetria. There are books to buy telling the interesting history of the church with two roofs.

We saw two of these UNESCO painted churches and this was very nice. The art and paintings were great and gave you a great view of the church at that time.

Well worth seeking out - one of the most interesting churches in Cyprus. Quite small and seemingly a 'house' as viewed from the outside. Unique style. Inside v similar to several churches around the island - 12th century or maybe a bit older. Definitely worth seeing. We got there 10 mins before closing (in fact it had closed but was re-opened for us - many thanks to the kind lady pastor!). So glad we saw it for ourselves. Breathtaking artwork....shame we couldn't photograph any of it. Def worth looking for.
