The so-called ghost town is a misfortune left by the Turks in this form since 1974. Not only should it not be visited, it should be avoided, because it does nothing but show the traces of the hours of any war. I don't understand the appetite for such things. In any case, no matter where you are on the Turkish side, you feel some pressure. I saw a Turkish military car 500 meters from the border. The fact that prices are significantly lower in the Turkish area does not improve the situation at all. I couldn't wait to get back to the south area.

The walled city is small enough to walk around in an extended day. As most things in Cyprus it could do with a bit of TLC but that is kind of its charm. Plenty of ancient elements with restuarants and a little highlighting the Turkish invasion.

The walled city offers a lot of monuments and ruins to see. Many things to discover within a walking distance. History, architecture and sea. You may choose to go around on your own or take a tour in the available electric cars with a guide. Recommended visit.

If you are in N. Cyprus you really must visit Famagusta and its very beautiful walled city, wander the old buildings and ruins and soak up the history. There are good restaurants for the tired and hungry and some open markets for those in need of retail therapy. well worth the trip.

old city Famagusta is a very beautiful marble place that’s very good for photos with historic sights.. It's combined by a good number of shops for gifts, souvenirs, and a good number of restaurants, cafes, and more. It doesn’t take more than two hours (if not sitting at a restaurant) .. Plus, there’s a La Passa monastery we recommend

We stayed inside the Walled City and we really enjoyed our 4 days there. So must history in one place, great authentic restaurants and local people. Close to the Ghost City with it's amazing and beautiful beaches and just down the road from the historic Salamis

Farmagusta with The Original Red City Bus
It is terrible what happened back in 1974 when Turkey invaded North Cyprus and to this day there are people not happy over the loss of their properties and land. It is worth the trip to see this and understand the history involved. The trip can be booked via The Blue Ivy hotel where we stayed and the pick up point at 9.30am is at MacDonalds. Both Paul the guide and Clive the driver were excellent and we had two hours to walk around Farmagusta which was great. I can also recommend Petek for a meal or coffee and cake. Next stop was an hour on the beach at Varosha before heading back to Protaras.

I have never been in a mosque but this building is so beautiful I had to look inside. The whole walled city area give you a great look at history. As well as some fantastic views. The area has coffee shops and restaurants to keep you going. Take your time and climb the wall for a great view.

We travelled over to the TRNC from the south and stayed in Famagusta for the day. Great experience going through the border and sovereign base area, probably unique in the world.

The town was really interesting, with plenty to see and explore. Far less developed than the southern side, making it seem old fashioned - in a good way.

Lots of places to eat, all seemed good value.

Another place to visit again, if the chance arises.
