We had a guided tour with our Seniors Club which was both interesting and enlightening. The court's history and day-to-day workings were very well presented and explained to us in detail. The main gallery was most impressive and was approximately 500 meters long with wide staircases on either side leading to the upper floors. Decor was somewhat somber being mostly black and white but the lighting was impressive. The main courtroom was large and well lit with twelve (?) translation cubicles on each side. More than two thousand people work there on any given day and the facilities for the staff and visitors were very good with a large library for all the necessary research.

The entire area where the Court is located is designed to serve the administration of UE. nothing to be visited as a tourist or maybe for those who are really interested in top european decisions. .... ( who on Earth visits Luxembourg for that ? )

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the Courts on an open day in Summer 2015, free of charge. The main building is amazing, being steel, glass and concrete - gold coloured with heavily tinted windows. Inside is a huge foyer and a wide staircase leads down to another large open area (where the Magna Carta was displayed when it was brought over). From this various judicial chambers lead off and these are also well worth seeing, particularly the main one, which has an enormous structure hanging from the ceiling, which looks like a huge gold eel net! At the sides are many booths, where the translators sit, translating the court testimony into whatever languages are needed on any particular day.
On a lower level is a restaurant and access corridor that leads out to another entrance. The building is full of offices for the lawyers, judges and administrators but it is also a repository for many works of art, including Rodin's Thinker, which is very impressive up close.
Outside are two gold 'twin' towers, which house most of the administrators. These were designed by a famous architect, I believe, though I was told on the quiet that it's hell to work in as the windows close automatically if there is much of a wind blowing (probably necessary to stop the paperwork flying all over Luxembourg!) so it gets hot in there. I was not able to go inside the towers.
On one long wall of a large meeting chamber is a floor to ceiling bookcase, which houses translations of all the courts' transcripts, bound in different colours for the various languages - goodness knows if anyone ever reads them but they look impressive!
Overall, these are interesting buildings and the guides give a fascinating picture of the work that goes on there - it's well worth a visit.

The tour bus takes you past this and you can see that the EU takes all the money from member states and spends it all on itself on a nice looking building lots of people keeping the EU in place. Wouldnt do ot again.

This court judge if national laws are in harmony with the laws of the European Union. An enormous bureaucracy. They have their judges, but they also need translators. In fact, they have 1000 of them, Many with a University degree in law. The buildings are impressive (and not cheap). Strong security control at the entance.

The building itself- covered with high quality art which a former female, Swedish judge insisted on. Our group was very well received by the current Swedish judge who after terror-acts in Paris was not able to meet us there came to our hotel to tell us all we wanted to know about their work and how it is to live there. I am so pleased.

The Court of Justice of the European Union is an EU institution of a great value to member states. Among others it has a great law library that is frequently visited by law students and researchers. It offers one open day in April or May every year when one can visit it. The friendly staff will provide with all the information about its activities, facts and figures. Check out the dates and make your arrangements. Its architecture is unique! It has the highest tower in Luxembourg. Its top floor allows one to have a splendid view of Luxembourg!

We were quite lucky to visit Luxembourg on the Europe Day when the organised the open doors to the Court of Justice of the European Union. We expected long queues but apparently everything was well organised. They offered the organised tour in different languages as you were not allowed to visit the building on our own.
Very interesting and informative.
