Interestingly this castle was build and rebuild. After the Dutch King bought it, it was sold brick by brick. They did an amazing job to rebuild it in it's original state. The view from the different rooms is amazing. Just make sure you wear your...More

Are castles boring to visit? Or only when they are not more than some ruins? This is a question I ask myself frequently when castle stories are about hundreds, sometimes even thousand years ago. About people you never heard about, you are not interested in,...More

To start, the drive to the castle from Ramstein was GREAT. I'm glad I left early because I ended up making 7 stops to see other sights. Make sure you bring a camera. The inside of the castle has lots of art and artifacts to...More

It's nice that you can tour at your own pace and just sort of look around, but in may of the rooms there was nothing to see. Some rooms had furnishings, but many did not.

Beautiful castle definitelly worth a visit. Most of the rooms are empty. The forniture I have seem looks like mismatched left overs. One can easily tell there is still a lot to be done. I hope they receive enough resorces to continue the good work...More

This Chateau (not a castle because only duke and not king lived here) was a gem to find and tour. Reasonably priced and audio guided tour is self paced and well worth it. There are lots of stairs and a rather steep climb to the...More

We enjoyed visiting this castle, it really is beautiful. The surrounding town is lovely as well. You will have to pay for parking with coins, so make sure you have some.

I think 2h is enough, including 20mn for a coffee inside. You won't spend more than 3h there in any case.

Hi it's a steep climb to get to the doors and there are many steps to be negotiated in the castle but it's well worth a visit! I would leave the buggy at the paying desk on the way in. Hope this helps.
