The chairlift is a quick 11 minute ride up the hill, finishing above the Chateau. We rode up and then walked down to the castle. The walk may be difficult for some older folks as there are places where the footing is not the best. There are beautiful views of the town and castle on the ride and on top,... More

If your in Vianden then for sure go on the chairlift. It does go quite high to to the castle. Very strange looking down on people's gardens

We opted for the one way trip up on the chairlift hoping to find our way to Vianden Castle. There is a cafe and facilities at the top. We followed a marked route steeply 400 metres downhill to the castle. If you had the time and good legs you could try going the other way around, then the views coming... More

The ages ranged from 11 to 84 and the chairlift is safe, restful and a lot of fun. We were here last year and had a great time with no change this year.

The chairlift itself is pretty cool and you arrive at the top where you can see the whole view. We took the chairlift because it was about 35C that day and way to warm to climb up. Up there, there is a very nice view of the city, the castle and there is a little place you can have something... More

We took two 3 year old boys up the lift, had lunch and then hiked to the castle. We hiked back to the chairlift and rode it down. Kids did great until about 1/3 of the way up, when we had to carry them on our backs. Kids had a lot of fun and it was an easy outing. We... More

Nice to do, nothing special if you have been in Alpes or Hong Kong. Add to your trip if you plan to go the castle. Do note that the path to the castle is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

The chair lift is pleasant and peaceful. You are suspended above the town and have a lovely view of the castle. There are fun activities at the top-you can walk through the adventure park, hike, go to the tree climber park, or go on a tour of the castle.

I took the chairlift in Vianden and it is a great little trrip. It does start on the opposite side to the castle. If you start from the Tourist Infonrmation office you cross over the bridge and turn left and it is a short walk. The chairlift then crosses over the river and then takes you up to a viewing... It took us a while to find the station for the chairlift as we didn't trust the map which said it was on the far side of the river from the castle, because the wires are clearly visible and look to reach the ground on the castle side of the river. In fact it runs horizontally for some distance before... More
