Just beautiful! Make sure not to miss it.
The hike to the lake took us 1,5 hrs, including some ‘let’s stop here to enjoy the breathtaking view’ moments and carefully walking. Back it inly took us 30 min.

Go to the Tourist information in Tvoroyri to get a detailed map and directions of where to pic-up the trail. You can drive through the first gate and park at the end of the road. The hike has a little bit of up and down action but isn't too difficult for anyone who is reasonably active. The trail is well worn initially but then branches off, we stayed on the trail to the left which eventually leads to the ocean and then on our way back we went on the trail to right. Both trails lead you to a view of the lake, on the left hand trail, you walk along the ocean until you get to the lake. You can then go down to the lake and walk all the way around it. If you take the trail to the right you will end up at a ridge above the lake and can look down upon it. It took us about 3 hours to leisurely complete the hike with many picture and snack breaks.

If you're based in town then this is a fantastic hike - takes 2-3 hours and the views are breathtaking - one can see the dimun island on a nice day.

This is a fabulous walk from Tvoroyri. We got detailed information from the information centre but the route is very clear and the coast side was really sheltered from the wind. We did not realise that you could drive through the first gate so parked just in front of it but it did not really matter. But, the advice to drive through the gate and park a bit further on is good.

It would have been nice to see the valley but the Suduroy fog sabotaged this! The walk is really well marked with orange wooden markers. Even in fog the path is clear. The start can be a bit confusing: Walk west through the village centre. Just before the hospital, turn right and walk past the side of the hospital until you turn off through a gate on the left that goes through a wood. At the top of the wood you turn left along a road called Ovari Vegur. Follow this till it ends at the hill side to pick up the path marked with orange posts. Pray for a fog free day...

Hvannhagi (pronounced “Kvaniah” in Faroese) is an extremely beatiful spot in walking distance from the main city Tvøroyri on the island of Suðeroy. From Hvannhagi you have a perfect view over the Atlantic Ocean and the faroese Islands of Stora Dimun, Litla Dimun and Skuvoy.
Recently the walking-road has had added som orange signs that helps you find the way across the mountain.
But beware - don’t get up there during bad or foggy weather. It can be rather dangerous if you get lost. The orange signs is a good help though.

Start off by driving along the road and park near the gate . Walk along the path around the hillside unroll it levels out and you actually drop a little until you get fantastic views of littla and stora dimun.
Then over a style and down the path winding down the hill unroll you reach the lake.
Then keep walking you go up then straight up into a gap in the rock face. There are loose stones and a little scrambling is necessary to get to the top , after that a gentle stroll down to the car . Takes around 2 to 3 hours depending on fitness levels.

No doubt an incredibly scenic route with gorgeous views of Tvoroyi and Litla Dimun - however, it is listed as child friendly even though there is stretch thats incredibly steep and realistically almost requires climbing gear - if it's been raining you should consider giving it a pass.

The island of Suduroy is a distant place from Thorshavn. You can go by helicopter or boat. Hvannaghi is like heaven, the landscape is breathtaking. It is not difficult to go there and worth. There is a small lake formed by waterfalls and if you have lucky, and the sun apear, you I will have a wonderful experience. I really recommend this wonderful place.
