We were looking for an indoor activity as it was all foggy outdoors. Its a modern building that showcases the Nordic aesthetic. Mostly for meetings and presentations etc and not really an indoor touristy activity. There’s a coffee shop in the lobby with views over the city. Some outdoor sculptures by Nordic artists outside the building.

This building evokes a special pride among the local population. This is because there are cultural events of all kinds here. In addition, you can enjoy a relaxed stay with magazines and Wi-Fi and a great view of Torshaven's city centre. I was also able to spot 3 wild horses directly.
I also ordered an Earl Grey tea and a local cake (Reyd Gularota Koka).
It was excellent, as was the whole stay. So thumbs up from me!

We did not go for a specific performance but rather to check it out. A few interesting cultural exhibits and interesting architecture. Free admission. Not a total highlight but definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood.

The Nordic House is hosting conferences, concerts and all sorts of cultural happenings. It is a cultural centre of great importance to the Faroese people.
Nice building and a cafe with lots of space.

Interesting visit for Scandinavians, very child friendly. We missed concerts but had a good buffet at the restaurant there. Special architecture with gras on the roof. Must visit for Icelanders since the manager is from Iceland :-)

This was not a highlight of the stop for us. It was built in the old way with the Grass Roof and it is large lots of things inside for the tourist and free washrooms. Not really sure what its use is maybe for local council meetings and concerts.

All Scandinavian capitals have a Nordic Museum. In some capitals it is vast and educational, here is smaller but still it is housed in a dedicated building with a lot ofglass and shows to the visitor how life has been in this part of the World.
As there are no many things to do in Torshavn, the Nordic House is one if thetop recommendations

Is it possible to walk from a cruise ship or should we look for a taxi? Does the hop on hop off bus pick up at the port? Thank you in advance for replying.
Written June 13, 2017
You can walk, there are actually not any very serious uphill portions. It will take about 20 min, maybe 30 from the harbour. Or you can take number 1 from the center, it will let you close to it. Buss is for free. We do not have a Hope On/Off in Tórshavn.
