Recommend that people view inside as its truly awe-inspiring for a modern church, having fabulous architecture, lights and a 'long boat' above you! The local church warden was very friendly and more than happy to tell us about the church and local culture.

Fresh feel to this high ceiling church with good acoustics. Lovely altar piece and don’t forget to look above the door at the inverted boat. There are interesting wooden ‘sculptures’ downstairs worth looking at too.

Christianskirkjan, Christian's Church is a modern church building in Klaksvík, the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands. It was consecrated in 1963, but everything inside looks bran new. The architecture is very nice, hidden behind the grey construction stones. It is one of the islands...More

If you are in klaksvik, it is worth going there. When we stood in the church someone working there gave us a tour and informed us about all interesting elements of the church. So they are extremly friendly there. The picture behind the altar is...More

The church has to be closed, but was open with no lights. Dramatic? No, suggestive, as the wooden boat on the rooftop.

We were on a round tour in this amazing church, which remains of a Faroese wooden church, classical Viking buildings or Faroese farms. The outer walls are made of basalt blocks, and the long sides of the roof frame are from five unbroken gables. The...More

The church itself was standard. There is a boat hanging in the roof! In the basement there are some art works in wood which are really cool.

More interesting if you see the timber mosaic Stations of the Cross downstairs. We were lucky to find an English-speaking bus driver to talk to us, but the mosaics are self-evident.

This church might be the most interesting in the Faroes - large by Faroese standards, airy, and with a really interesting architecture and history. There was a volunteer around to explain the story of the actual boat hanging from the ceiling, and also to point...More
