The "bombed" Opera Theater is a WWII remains in Valletta. It is near the Parliament building and currently used as an open air concert theater for holding various activities. Quite a good idea to keep part of the war remains for active use.
So wonderful that they didn't demolish the whole opera when it was bombed and have left it as a monument. Clever, clever to make it into a living (though ugly) outside theater. But did I miss something????? Why were there no posters, signs, photos etc....More
This is a new modern outdoor theatre stage among old buildings. It is right next to the Parliament building. Although the Parliament building is new it looks great and fits in with the surroundings. The new theatre stage does not.
The Royal Opera house was one of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in Valletta in 18th and part of 19th century. Destroyed during WWII bombings, the ruins were "redesigned" in 21st century and once again started functioning as a performance venue.
Located very near to the City Gate and The New Parliament, the Pjazza Teatru Rjal is not that impressive. Probably due to the excessive amount of modern steel visible which takes the eye away from the ancient ruins.
