Time of year
Worth a visit and very historic but the guides were informative but a little bit wishywashy. Very busy in the summer months so go out of season for best views
First time we saw this, we didn't pay the admission fee and watched from above and missed it. The canon only fires once so you need to pay attention else you'll miss it! I went back again and paid the admission. It was much better - you get a lot closer to the action, in fact…
A lot of people view the saluting battery from the Upper Barrack gardens without coming down to the terrace where the cannons are located as you pay to do so either as a stand alone activity or as a combo with war tunnels. I would strongly recommend paying so you can also listen…
My wife and I had a five day trip to Malta, and visited the stunning capital city of Valletta on day three. The Saluting Battery and firing of the gun at 4pm was one of the highlights of our whole trip. Pomp and pageantry at its best. Definitely one not to miss.
Well presented and worth a visit if you’re in Valletta at 12.00 or 16.00. We watched from the balcony and made a small donation but worth the 3 euros to get a bit closer also.
