About
For a long time it has been renowned as being the third largest unsupported dome in the world. Outside diameter 56.2 metres. Inside diameter 39.6 metres. Internal height 54.7metres. This gigantic rotunda church is decorated with many paintings by Giuseppe Calì and other able artists. While on a visit to the Mosta Dome one should not miss going into the sacristies, to view and admire the various objects of prestige, including paintings and a large-scale model of the church. Not to be missed is a replica of the bomb which, in 1942, pierced the dome and landed on the church floor. The bomb did not explode. No one died and the church was not destroyed.

Impressive dome!!!

If you go inside just a bit before the service, you do not have to get tickets, apparently. This church is beautiful and can be seen from several points within the island, so huge it is!

Worth visiting
Aug 2020
The church is beautiful from outside, as well as inside. Interesting story with the huge bomb falling inside of the church in 1942. You can also visit one of the Maltese War Shelters (right in front of the church). Very nice staff (during my 3 visits this summer).

Unique church with a bomb
Aug 2020
Defenitely beautiful and breathtaking church. I recommend to buy the full ticket so you can explore the view from the roof and the underground 2ww shelter too. It Is very interesting and bit anxious. In the back of the church is exposed a bomb, which has very interesting story behind. During 2ww Czechoslovakia had to make bombs and weapons for Nazi, but we didn't want hurt people in Malta. So workers in Pilsen risked their lives and lives of their family, when they filled the bomb with sand and not a gunpowder. That's why the bomb didn't explode, when fell through the roof f rotunda and people hiding there didn't die. Sadly none of this information isn't in that exhibition.

Beautiful dome
Dec 2019
Another beautiful building in Malta. We visited here whilst waiting for the (very slow) bus onwards to Mdina. It didn't take long to walk around but it is so elaborate and the dome is quite lovely. You need to pay extra to go upstairs but we didn't do this. Worth a visit. Pretty cheap to visit buildings here compared to the UK.

Disappointing
Aug 2020
Not what I expected. 74 step stairs to the dome. Dome particioned off, so couldn;t see much. Bomb shell, now in the gift shop, with a quick vido running, Gigt shop tacky. Cheap place to visit, but very hot and airless inside

lovely sunny Church
Aug 2020
The church of Mosta is a beautiful church with a huge dome, that‘ll cheer you up with it‘s bright colours on the inside of the dome. The geometry of the darker marbles below together with the roof‘s decoration has a soothing effect. For 5 € you can go upstairs and have a look down from the base of the dome. The big flags on the city‘s roofs waving in the bright sunlight that you see from up there are a nice sight too.

Great dome church
Feb 2020
This church has strange dome style and actually it brings some uniqueness on how it looks like from inside.
I took extra trip to go to top of the dome to see how it looks from upper side and it is actually worthed.
Spend 30min at least inside the church to enjoy it.
For parking spot, it is very challenging, so I suggest to go little bit further in residence area to get some free parking space.
