Located along the main street of Mdina, next to the Carmelite priory, the Hagia Sophia Palace stands out immediately for its ancient facade with beautiful mullioned windows. In fact, it has a reputation as the oldest palace in the city that was severely hit by an earthquake and rebuilt largely in Baroque style. Very nice.

This is a great place with lots of activities in the incredibly charming city of Mdina. Walk around and get lost in the streets, you'll love it.

Fascinating 13th Century architectural masterpiece! Certainly worth a detour whist walking through the streets of Mdina.

This palace is opposite St. Paul's Cathedral and is thought to be the oldest building in Mdina. The building looks pretty innocuous except for the upper floor, which has ornate mullioned windows and a faded coat of arms. The building is private property, so it’s really just a landmark building and not a particularly interesting one.

The oldest building of Malta built in the 13th century is this massive stone structure called the Palazzo Santa Sofia. Located in Villegaignon street you cannot miss this structure. The date 1233 is seen on one of its window moulding and a lovely statue of Mother Mary holding Baby Jesus under a marble canopy is eye-catching. Currently the place is owned by a trust who rent it out for private parties and functions but closed to the general public. A unique really old sight of Mdina history !

It would have been nice to have a quiet look around but like the rest of Mdina it’s suffering from its own success, with hoards of cruise ship tourists

Situated in the same street as the Carmelite Priory, but is not open to the public. It has a domed facade with 3 external bells on the top which is strange for a palace, unless my translation of palazzo is wrong. Palazz in Maltese is palace in English, but it doesn't look like much of a palace. A quick photo if you are so inclined and carry on your way.

Reputed to be the oldest building in Malta and dating from the 13th century, this is architecturally a very interesting building and well worth seeking out among the maze of narrow streets that make up Mdina old city.

I would recommend visiting everybody during a walk in Mdienie this building. For those who are interested in architecture it will be an exceptional attraction. Interesting and nice building, which was created in the thirteenth century.
