- paulmaureenandmollyLiverpool, United Kingdom296 contributionsAmazing hotel recommended by a friend and not disappointed. Staff really helpful nothing too much trouble. Henri the head of customer relations a star again a mine of knowledge and don't know what the Hotel will do if he ever leaves ! Our room with a garden view in the Sunrise tower was perfect large in size it had a small kitchen area with all you would need utensils pots pans plates etc etc even washing up liquid ! Three pools inc a pool for adults only with jacuzzi and indoor pool and spa towels available but would recommend you bring possibly a couple more as whilst they are large and really good quality one extra alway useful we have found . lots of sun beds and security check for those residents placing a towel on a subbed and then going away they remove towel and any belongings ( after taking a photo) which thought was good as we candy stand selfish people. Breakfast full and plenty lots of choice we didn't have any evening meals as we prefer to look outside our accommodation only because we like the choice and flexibility. two restaurants linked to Italian themed one and essence of India (we went twice it was that good!) So would though-ally recommend for a peaceful relaxing stay and if you are a Raddison rewards member it can be even better valueVisited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 25, 2024
- Lydia J63 contributionsThis was our favourite beach over the trip. We were able to spend the whole day here and had a great time. The toilet facilities were not the best; however, the beach bar and sun loungers etc were great. The food and drinks were reasonable in price and the staff providing the sun loungers and umbrellas were very helpful. The beach was busy but the boardwalks made it more accessible and easily navigated. After spending time on the beach, we took a walk up around the bay and watched the sunset from over the beach.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 15, 2024
- Loredana D2 contributionsSandy beach with possibility to rent deckchairs 7 euros and / or umbrella 5 euros and choose your location. Small restaurant on site Parking space along the road or parking for 1euro/h. Aquatic activities available (pedal boats, parasailing, buoys, jet ski rental etc.. on aquamarine watersports.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 1, 2024
- Farraday vRotterdam, The Netherlands4 contributionsMellieha beach is wonderful up to 6 euros per beach bed or umbrella. Blue Lagoon is beautiful, but way too busy. Beach beds are 10 euros there and umbrella too. But the 25 euro boat trip per adult that goes along the Blue Lagoon and other Things to do is fantastic to do. Really enjoy it. Palm beach is also wonderful. A very small beach and lots of seaweed, but wonderful shell hunting and playing in the water. It gets deep here pretty fast. At Mellieha beach it is wonderful for the children, because super shallow water. Hotel Pergola was certainly good, but certainly not four stars. Rooms smell musty and breakfast was meagre. By contrast, my husband and nine-year-old son loved the breakfast. Nice restaurants some pricey some less pricey. We were there during Mellieha nights and with the view of the church from the Pergola the fireworks in the evening were top. Don't expect too much, just enjoy.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 8, 2024
- Getaway374487748262 contributionsOne of the few sandy beaches in Malta. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas (8 euro sunbed, 5 euro parasol). Busy in the season though. The water is clear and not directly deep. Ideal for children. Swimming shoes or slippers are useful because the first meters in the sea are stones.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 31, 2024
- JeJe SGermany102 contributionsIn itself is a very nice sandy beach, very quiet although many people were there.. There are plenty of places to lie.. 2 lie down and 2 umbrellas cost 24 euros which is fine for the whole day. There is also a small restaurant where you can buy snacks and drinks..Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 22, 2024
- Nicola C66 contributionsBeach among the two/three best on the island of Malta. Convenient bus stop getting off at the Gahjn Tuffieha terminus and reachable in a few minutes on foot. Two sunbeds and an umbrella for 19 euros, toilets, free showers and two kiosks for lunch, one directly on the beach and one more secluded at the top of the climb. The sea is clean and crystal clear in the morning and early afternoon, while later it tends to get dirty due to overcrowding of people bathing. The beach is sandy but to enter the sea you have to walk for a few meters on the stones, so for those who bother Recommendation of shoes. Activities are also good, including a beach volleyball court, snorkeling and parasailing. Recommended!Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 7, 2024
- ClaudioRome, Italy27 contributionsThe beach is overcrowded. The cost of an umbrella and two sunbeds is 19 euros. There are plenty of water activities to do. The best is snorkeling on the right side of the bay, where there are rocks and platforms to dive from. There the water is crystal clear and rich in fish.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 24, 2024
- Lorenzo MPescara, Italy161 contributionsFree beach where you can rent umbrella and two sunbeds for 19€ and a locker, in our opinion very useful, for 5€. The sea is clean, but the same cannot be said of the beach, obviously because of the people who leave their waste despite there being many baskets. For lunch you can eat at the “golden beach”, kiosk with outdoor tables and on a terrace where a nice breeze blows. We recommend arriving early, because the beach fills up easily.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 24, 2024
- sidi85Pisa, Italy193 contributionsOne of the three most beautiful beaches in the North West of Malta, accessible to all, with a free and equipped beach (umbrella €5 and sunbed €7). Bus stop very close and breathtaking view from above if you go up a steep but short walk. Clean water even if not clear, due to the presence of some niches of algae.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 16, 2024

A very nice beach but quite a journey to get there as a day trip. Buses confusing and unreliable. The beach is better than pictured and worse than pictured. Better because it really is stunningly beautiful. The water is shallow enough to be pleasant but deep enough to enjoy. Perfect for kids but large enough to distance yourself from kids if you are on a romantic day out. Worse because its very crowded even for October. And the sand does need to be sifted so that the beach is as nice as the water. Also the sand leads to a very rocky bottom for a few feet before you are back to sand again in the water. Bring water shoes! If you are a person that is adaptable you will have a great time here. Drift further down the beach away from crowds and stay later in the day, when everyone disappears. If you are staying late bring your own chair because if you rent one they come get them around 5. The restaurant overlooking the beach is really worth it, especially as the sun goes down.

Unless you enjoy swimming in what looks like murky grey sewage water together with hundreds of other people, you should find a different beach.
Of all the beaches we visited during our 10 day stay in Malta, this was by far the dirtiest and nastiest place we stayed. Water and sand is littered with cigarette butts, plastic, bird feathers, and other rubbish. The water is greyish yellow, and unlike all the other beaches we stayed at, Golden Beach was the only one where the water was so dirty that you couldn't see the bottom.
Price for sunbeds and parasoll is twice what it is at other places (we paid over €40 for four people), and it quickly became clear to us that this beach is a party place hyped by TikTok.
100% not worth it.

Having been to Malta many times before I know that the country isn’t blessed with plentiful sandy beaches, but regardless, my partner and I wanted a bit of a relaxing get-away during our trip to Valetta. I had always been disappointed by Għadira Bay and had struggled to find a good balance between small crowds and good beachside amenities outside of Gozo, but Golden Bay really surprised us with its large sandy beach, beautiful vistas of Għajn Tuffieħa just a short hike away, and warm, shallow waters. Getting to the Golden Bay from the city was extremely easy - just one long bus ride. When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised to find a small shop renting umbrellas (€4) and sunbeds (€5), both of which made our beach day much more comfortable. There was also a small restaurant selling drinks and food. We stayed overnight in an Airbnb in a nearby village for convenience, but the Golden Bay could definitely be an easy day trip from anywhere with a direct bus line. Definitely one of the nicest beach areas on the island!

Lovely picturesque beach with great views. Very crowded but that’s to be expected in August. Prices at beach bars very reasonable which was great to see as so many in similar positions inflate their prices to a captive audience. We shared a pizza at the Radisson Blu beach bar - not much more than we would have paid at the other beach bars but far nicer to sit in. Took an Uber there for 25 euros from Senglea and bus back (4 euros). Good day out.

Better to go to another beach with all the little coves there are and with very transparent water, no comparison with this one. The sea with many algae and brown. Lots of people who look like Benidorm. The umbrella costs 4 euros and a hammock costs 6 euros. We only took the umbrella because you can't be there otherwise. And not the hammocks because in the end it's a waste of money for tourists...Also to park sea cloth, which in the end we leave it to the paid one, if not impossible. I don't recommend it.

Really nice beach. Golden Sandy beach with clear and warm water. Water temperature is suitable for swimming in October as well. Sun loungers can be hired and beach toys can be purchased. There is a cafe on it for takeaway or dine in food and drinks. Shower is available in shop on beach front for 1 euro or just up the stairs for free in public toilet. Public toilet very nearby, but no toilet rolls! Car parking is free and ample.

Golden Baby is sandy, with water that is not exceptional, especially for those accustomed to the wonders of southern Italy. However, the beach is equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds on request (€5 and €7 respectively). There is no shortage of kiosks and various shops.

Fairly average beach. Sunset is great but if you want a nice clean sandy beach then go to Mellieha Bay which is cleaner and has a lot more options.
The 101 bus is sporadic if you are travelling from Mellieha and given it is one an hour, that’s not ideal. Suggest taking a taxi which I quick and quite cheap - it cost me 9€.

A very lovely beach on the Maltese island, the favourite one of our holiday. €16 for 2 beds and 1 parasol but similar prices elsewhere. Lovely beach bar would recommend the tuna Ftira, breakfast Ftira, honey and walnut cake and the Mojito! Great to see the sunset from the top of the hill!

Golden Bay is certainly the most popular beach in Malta and, in my opinion, the most beautiful. During our short holiday, Letizia and I dedicated a couple of hours to this beautiful Maltese glimpse, which can also be reached by bus. The beach is truly golden and has fine sand; waters are clear and of an almost surreal blue; the seabed is shallow and it is possible to walk out to sea for several tens of metres. We were lucky not to find too much crowding. The area is equipped with refreshments, bathrooms and recreational activities. To visit!

Dear All, I am planning on staying at this location in November. However, my wife is terrified of lizards and geckos! Please can you tell me if you encountered any in this area, particularly if you travelled in November. If you did encounter any, were they on the beach, the street or even in your hotel? Many Thanks
