    Stay clear of Argus Car Hire. I'm not sure it is even a legitimate business. (1) There doesn't seem to be any reasonable way to deal with unforeseen complications, such as a late flight; (2) There is NO way to talk to a human being; only chats are provided; (3) The procedure they gave me for creating a complaint ticket didn't work. Our flight was delayed so that we couldn't meet our scheduled car pick up time. They told us that our booking was cancelled and our only recourse was to contact the local vendor or file a complaint ticket. The procedure given to me for creating the complaint ticket, however, got me a 504 web error.

    Dear, I am contacting you to express my dissatisfaction following my car rental through your company. I made a reservation, on February 2, 2024, for a car rental from Cancun airport (reservation number MX311512440, €124.77). I rented a car for 10 days and nothing is mentioned on the reservation concerning a possible presentation time to collect the vehicle. So, I considered that I could collect the vehicle, during this period, on the day I wanted. I unfortunately learned, upon my arrival, on March 7 at 2 p.m., that my rental contract had been canceled. The attitude of the MEX Aéroport Cancun agency in charge of the contract was to offer me a new contract for US$350 and to contact the intermediary, therefore your company, regarding the cancellation of my first contract. I consider that no information from you was given to me concerning the 6 hour deadline for collecting a rental vehicle, neither in your emails, nor by exchange with your chat, so I wrongly considered that the modification of the contract was not necessary. I didn't understand why the agency might not be able to guarantee my reservation. I consider the cancellation of my first contract to be your responsibility and therefore I request a full refund.     Scammed as well. All they did was provide a reservation, had to pay triple when picking up car. Currently waiting for them to investigate my claim. I think I'll have no satisfaction and will have to deal with getting refunded by my credit card. Do not use this 3rd party company, car rental will not acknowledge them or any money you paid them.

    Buyer beware!
    I reserved a car at Toronto Pearson. My flight was delayed, and by the time I arrived at the pickup desk, the car rental agency had apparently closed at 8pm. I was of course not made aware at any point that the agency would be closing within a couple hours of my arrival. When I called the next day, I was told that my reservation was cancelled and my car was no longer available. Argus refused to issue a refund.

    Avoid!!!!!!
    Avoid at all costs!! We have been plagued by surprise additional costs, 50% more than the original hire cost, three months after our trip. We have been contesting these charges, to no avail, as Argus point to small print that allows them to charge fees if we were supposedly 15 minutes late to pick up our rental car. This was not an issue at the time of rental, but Argus are now charging us three months later. Absolute scam!

    Never think of this guys. Everything of them are just scams.
    I booked three weeks earlier before the start of trip schedule, but this guys send my reservation to rent-a-car company at the very day of trip start. Cars were fully booked before the reception of my reservation and my plan went totally wrong. But they didn’t noticed me for this nor did something to fix this horrible situation. And they are de facto refusing to refund. They completely ruined my trip for the special occasion. These guys are just charlatans and every bit of them is scam. Do not try or even think of these guys, if you want to ruin every bit of your trip.

    Avoid at all costs.
    I would give zero if I had a choice. Was going to be an hour late after an error on my part and phones to ask what my options were but was told that I had now lost the hire and was not entitled to a refund on the money I had already paid nor was I able to collect the car the following day. These are proper scam merchants. Avoid like the plague. Had to get a other hire at triple the price on the day and now trying to work out if I can claim back on the insurance. A terrible start to the holiday.

    Horrible, costly experience with Argus (an unethical middleman)
    This was the worst experience I could have had hiring a car. The whole trip had been ruined because of Argus. I booked a car in Lancaster but the place wouldn’t let me pick the car up without a credit card (or paying 3x what I had originally spent for a damage waiver). So I spent a day communicating with Argus via their very slow WhatsApp. Whatever I did was going to cost a lot more and there were no good options: either an extortionate £55 late change fee plus a car that cost way more than it did when I searched online, or a £106 cancellation fee. This was all despite the fact that it was only 12 hours since I’d made the booking. When I finally rebooked with the late change fee, the rental company was actually an hour away from where I’d asked them to look. Overall I’ve now paid £166 to not hire a car. I hate that the people that can least afford it are the worst protected from skyrocketing fees should you make one tiny error. Inflexible, awful experience with Argus that I never wish to repeat that has left my crying with sheer frustration.

    Rogues, scammers, scam. They keep your money and you have to pay another contract with the car company.
    You pay the rent and when you get to the window of the rental company they put a lot of problems and qualms because they want you to contract with them directly. For example they do not accept credit card with abbreviations but if you contract with the rental company directly at the window if they accept. They do not accept credit cards from non-bank entities, but they do if you contract directly with the vehicle company at the window. They keep your money all over their faces and don't give you the service. I'll sue and sue. Don't contract with these scoundrels.

    Just avoid them
    I have booked a car through them. It was a free cancelation policy before 48 of the pickup date. So I did cancel the car as I needed. However they did not refund me after 2 days and on the chat they told me it will takes 10 working days. I don't know why it takes this much time for them. I had same experience with the rentacar.com but they refund me almost imidiatly.

I have given it one star as the ease of booking was good. Little did I know. Once you have booked through Argus Car Hire they hand you over to GoldCar who are next to useless. Unfortunately the car we hired through Argus, whom my contract was with, was not fit for purpose and broke down. The GoldCar tow company were good and collected the vehicle as they said they would, however that is where the service ended. A month on and GoldCar have taken money off my credit card – for what we do not know as I have not received any communication/invoice/final bill and Argus who “understand my frustration” are still investigating what happened. This investigation supposedly takes 20 working days. We are now on working day 27. The car broke down and was towed to the garage and there was a mechanical fault. I’m not sure why this has taken so long to investigate. I knew these facts two days after it broke down. As for the fact GoldCar have taken money from my card without providing any invoice/final bill – Argus confirm this should not happen, and they agree my credit card company blocking GoldCar from taking any further payments is a good idea. Argus still do not understand that as I booked through them and they effectively contracted out to GoldCar they have some liability. I’m not sure whether the person understood the term due diligence when I asked what procedures they go through to partner with suppliers. They seemed to think I should be more appreciative that they are going to do their best to resolve my issue. Please do not use either Argus Car Rental or GoldCar directly.

Our flight into Tenerife was an hour late and we arrived 20 mins after the Argus car hire company was due to close at 9pm. Despite us having paid for our 10 day hire in advance and them having our telephone number, no one called us and they went home.
I must point out that the phone lines were open when we arrived, but switched off after about 20 mins of not answering.
It was very stressful being at the airport, with 2 children and an hour away from our accommodation.
Their customer service on WhatsApp told us we would be refunded and to go ahead and hire from another company.
We were very lucky to eventually get another car, as they had a cancellation.
Pretty much every other car hire company were open until the early hours of the morning, where Argus shut at 9pm, which they had not made clear.
After requesting a refund in the following days, we were told that as we did not turn up for our car, we were not entitled to ANY refund. Their small print actually says that we would not have been entitled to collect car the next day, as we did not turn up on time.
They refused to refund ANY of the full amount and were very dismissive in their correspondence.
Long story short, really unhelpful / unreasonable and would NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND.

Booked online, was confirmed at one price. 2 Days later had email stating price had increased, then payment link showed an even more inflated price (more than double the original booking price). I nearly just paid not thinking about it, but luckily checked what I’d noted down as the price. Canceled and will not be using again.

I had to book a car urgently and, when trying to collect it, I was told I couldn't use my Amex card. Why was the card accepted on the first occasion?

Then, the customer agent at the chosen branch told me they would accept the above-mentioned card but my reservation price would be changed if I was happy to pay £200 extra for the rental. Needless to say, I declined this outrageous offer and tried to reach Argus' customer care. A message was sent to the company's WhatsApp, on the very number you can find on their website - that took place before the reservation's starting time.

A few minutes later, I managed to find a phone number and decided to ring their customer care. Believe it or not, I've been told by one of their advisors that I didn't send any messages and I had the wrong number. Well, they opened up a case and the reply was and I quote "per the agreed terms and conditions" they wouldn't refund my reservation.

The only place that says they won't take any AMEX cards is the T&Cs. All other places, websites, emails, and CHECKLIST for the car collection say you need to possess the same card used on the reservation.

Without further ado, I don't recommend the company due to the fact they provide you with misleading information. If I had on their checklist what cards were accepted, maybe a remark, things would be way more smooth.

BEWARE. Do not use this car rental service along with ET car hire, and route. they have several other names that allow these scammers to continue to steal on December,18.2023 I was robbed by this company of 536.14 my Husband and I made a reservation when we went in to pick a vehicle up. They told us that we were supposed to have airplane tickets. I told them that nowhere in the description did it say that. that we did not have airplane tickets. and that if we could get a refund please, the guy never made eye contact with me at the front desk or apologized which led me to believe this was a reaccruing problem. He gave me a number to call when I called the number they said that, I violated the terms and conditions, and that I would not be receiving a dime back. I could even understand if there was a fee for not reading these so-called imaginary terms and conditions, but to take someone’s hard-earned money and not have a care in the world about it these people need to be dealt with, and I am not going to stop here. Please do not use this car rental company.

They print in bold letters full refund, but in their small fine print there's all kinds of hidden fees. Dishonest company. They charged me $4.69 for requesting for a full refund within one hour of my booking and my car pick up is a month away.

Please don't use this company, I believe them to be extremely dishonest. I booked through an online platform, when I went to collect the car I was charged andadditional three hundred pounds as they would not accept a debit car for the security deposit, there was no warning of this on any booking correspondence, I met two other people when collecting the car who were caught in the same way. When I called to complain they said this was normal.

I would never recommend it, the worst place in Mexico City to rent a car, don't be scammed by this company.
In my case, I had a reservation scheduled for nine days that cost me close to 300 dollars, however, when I arrived at the place to claim the car, they were forcing me to pay insurance that cost between 75 and 90 dollars a day, with the excuse that Without this insurance they would not allow me to take the car out of the place, that is, those people wanted me to pay 800 dollars, almost triple the cost of the reservation, to be able to use the vehicle, not counting the 1000 dollars that they freeze on your card. , simply absurd.
I asked other agencies and they told me that this was an abusive practice, since no one should be forced to pay for insurance that they do not want, since freezing a balance on the card is enough.

Hello everyone, I had a rental car from you now for 10 days. First – the car was very good. The settlement in advance online ok.

However, your Customer Service is a total disaster.

Since my machine only landed at 22:30 on the day of entry I tried via email (answer 1 week later) via Whats App Service (no response) and lastly via the given phone number (there was a tape running) to inform you that I will exceed 23:00 pickup time. Glitches on their website during preregistration prevented me from having all of the paperwork they require. As a result, the quoted price jumped considerably when I went to get the car and I decided to cancel the reservation. However, due to shuttle delays and a long queue at the counter, their time window to cancel closed and they would not refund my $625. Quite impossible to deal with them on the telephone. Seems to be a bit of a rip-off operation. First time in my 70 year old life this has happened; am discouraged with this type of human behavior in this day and age.
