This is worth popping in if you've already paid for a joint ticket but not worth going out of your way to see. If you've already been to the Malta experience then you can skip the video section- essentially a cut down version. It's nicely presented overview that is (admittedly probably by necassity) a very high overview that states broad things that are contradicted at local sites in places.

What a load of sexist bunkham.
The worst information package EVER and done up like
a theme park tasteless all round experience.
Now if you were sat in seats and swiveled around now that might have been comfortable.
Was it worth the wait...NO and was it interesting and informative?
NO your guidebook leaves more to the imagination.
The bridal wear lady at the onset was rather sickmaking.

The Cittadella Visitors' Centre is a disappointment especially in terms of where it is housed. Looks modern though the old building has been torn apart and left in shambles covered in concrete, eery grey. What a shame. The admission tickets includes other so called museums. Not worth visiting these place because they are not well presented, not well-kept and not updated. Waste of time. Should we have known beforehand we would have spent time on the citadel enjoying the view and do a photo session. This is a scam.

Step into this great visitors' centre just at the entrace to the citadel. It provides a lot of information and what's more - it's visually attractive. What to want more?

The Citadella's first introduction is through the visitor's centre (although you can buy the €5 five museum ticket at any of the venues). So on entering I was assuming I was expecting something a bit more. The staff were offhandish and bored. I was given a map and then just left to my own devices.
The visitor's centre is just 5 screens with information about the Citadella and more. It is in many languages...so that is a bonus. And everything was interesting.

And then we were rounded up like sheep and told the show is starting. Nobody knee what was going on and then the walls of one of the annexes opened and we were herded through to a corridor with a big hologram of a woman...before, once again, being herded into a square room where the doors automatically posed behind us when we were inside. No explanation...nothing. Then the show started...and it is a full 360° history of Gozo and the Citadella. Finally we began to enjoy it as we realised what it was...but then it ended and with no words spoken, the lady usher just opened an emergency exit and gestured we leave. It led to the middle of nowhere and we all stood a second as the lady shut the door behind us with no explanation of where to go next. I ended up wandering and found some really interesting bits..
But I really think the museum staff need to, at least, explain what is going on. There were about 12 of us on this showing and none of us had a clue what was going on. Hopefully my review will help fellow travellers to grasp the situation earlier and enjoy it more.

This small center provides an informative introduction to the Citadel. Equipped with audiovisual and interactive equipments, it walks the visitors through the history of the citadel. The entrance fee is minimal and covers all the museums inside the Citadel except for the cathedral.

I recommend to visit this center first before starting your tour of the Citadel, it will help you to better conceptualize the things you will see while walking in the Citadel.

At the peak of Gozo you're graced with amazing 360° views of the island in an incredible fortress enriched in history. Restaurants, galleries and history litter the laneways. Don't miss it.
