Take some time to visit this shrine. A peaceful atmosphere even for non believers. It is very quite in winter season.

This is one of the stopping places on the open-bus tours. The church/shrine looks all the more impressive because it has no other buildings nearby, only grassland and the local agave plants (which live for 10/20 years or so, flower once and then die). The sap is used to make tequila in other countries but not here. The church is decorative and well worth a visit. Outside are some well-painted murals of various saints.

We visited Ta Pinu during a day trip to Gozo. We felt the experience was slightly mixed. We hopped off the bus about 10-15 minute walk away, although hot this was a very pleasant walk with gorgeous views out to sea, off Ta Pinu & up the hill which had sculptures all the way up.

Upon arriving the mosaics outside with hints of gold are beautiful. We then entered Ta Pinu, this is where the experience began to turn.

Passive aggressive signage upon entering asking people to be quiet and respectful feels slightly over the top - quote “especially tour guides / groups”.

There is no bathroom in the main building. There are only 3 porta-loos in the car park. This would have been fine but there was no toilet roll, no hand soap and the hand sanitizer station in Ta Pinu was empty, under normal circumstances this would have been merely disappointing but given current conditions this felt unacceptable

A very beautiful church. Located in a village and can be seen from quiet far away. Gets a fair amount of tourist foot fall.

The Ta' Pinu Basicilica is a very big church which can be seen far away. Interesting to see the mosaics located outside the Basilica which inside is rather simple.

People often pray to Our Lady of ta Pinu for her intersession with their own difficulties, very often physical or medical problems. Upon recovering they take token to the shrine and these are on display for all to see. Since your photo was taken there has been the addition of wonderful mosaics around the courtyard depicting the life of Christ.

The Basilica of Ta’ Pinu is one of the most visited places on the island of Gozo – Malta. It was the site of a small chapel where Karmela Grima, a strong believer in the Blessed Virgin, heard someone calling her as she was walking near the chapel. When the Holy Church received confirmation that the story was true they built the Ta' Pinu Basilica to accommodate the many Christian pilgrims that started to visit the site. Pope John Paul II visited the church in 1992.

It's a architecturally beautiful church and has superb views around the surrounding countryside.

The Basilica of Ta’ Pinu is one of the most visited places on the island of Gozo – Malta, not only by Maltese people but also by many tourists.

I raced around this site and caught the bus away from it quickly. The usual touts earning from souvenirs and honey etc. The area which you could see on a bus was interesting but the church was a modern reconstruction. I am unsure if it was worth it?

The interior like all the churches was commonplace. Nothing of artistic relevance to me.
