We visited San Blas Beach a couple of weeks ago and the kiosk had a advert board saying BBQ every night. We went to speak with the owner Steve and ask what it consist. It's €20 - three course meal. Main course is rib-eye and if you have chicken or pork I think it's €15. He gave us his number as you have to call him personally to book.
When we went for a wkend we decided we will try Steve's San Blas BBQ. I called him and booked for Saturday.
Yes I do love BBQs but this was beyond my expectations. First we were served with Garlic Bread and sausages ... Then we had the rib eye which was excellent and a generous piece! Then the dessert was out if this world. I was expecting a normal 2 scoops of ice cream, but no the dessert was home made. It was kind of a log with biscuits, nutella, fruit & cream. It was amazing!
Yes I would go again and again.
I do recommend this BBQ. You have to call Steve tho to check if he will be doing the BBQ or not. It depends obviously on demand. I guess if he gathers sufficient ppl he will do it. On the day we went we were probably about 30 ppl total. Give it a try and you won't be dissappointed!

This picturesque bay was one of my favorite beaches to go to. The last storm brought in a lot of big stones and boulders so there isn’t much sand to sit and sunbath. It has a very steep climb down to the sea which is difficult to climb up. There is transportation up and down for $2 each way which is worth it on leaving if you’re not the fitness. There is a little cafe to get food and drinks and the gentleman that runs it is super nice.

The beach is very small. But the valley around the beach is beautiful. The nicest we experienced on the Maltese islands. Very fertile, full of plants. Take a walk to the next valley and beach (Ramla) over the mountain. The views over to Sicily is spectacular. We even saw Etna!

San Blas beach is a former shadow of itself. A storm carried away all the sand and deposited rocks. We went with high hopes but were faced with a rocky walk to reach the end of the beach which was the only flat space but it was hardened clay. The water was warm but the beach is to be avoided if you want a relaxing sandy beach. Perilous is one word I would use to describe the walk along the rocky beach. We were still able to pay for the lift to the small parking area at the top of the steepest of hills. Parking for cars is limited to approx 5 cars.

We’ll I should have paid more attention to the recent reviews! Getting there was easy and managed to get a space in the car park (only enough space for 4/5 cars). There’s then a steep walk down to the “beach” which is probably around a 20-25% slope). Others have mentioned about a ride up and down for a couple of Euros, however don’t expect it to be available as we found out. The beach itself is very secluded and quiet but and it’s a big but - there is no sand and the swimming area is rocky. Having said all that our little boy had fun stacking stones but the sea was way too dangerous for him to venture in to

So so disappointed. Went there with my partner. When you finally arrive at the bottom, after a mega steep hill, there’s nowhere to stay. The beach is super small, it shouldn’t even be called a beach and it’s all covered in stones so nowhere to sit down. We had no option but to stay at the ‘restaurant’ which was another flop. Ordered a hotdog and what I got, I wouldn’t even feed to the dogs. Waste of a day and money.

Visited Aug 2019 and discovered the ‘beach’ had disappeared. Locals told us a storm ruined it earlier in the year. A mass of rocks now lie where the sand beach was making it treacherous to walk over.

If you are adventurous and happy to deal with this it might be worth a look, but if you have young children or difficulty walking over rocks etc avoid it.

A real shame.

In march of 2017, a storm took much of te sand from San blas beach. Despite this, it's a wonderful place to hang out and swim. There's a food joint on the beach and chairs to rent. It costs 1.50 per person to ride down and 2$ up. Hugh hill. Worth a visit.

We found the beach has changed so much and the sandy area is now very small. It was busy on the day we visited by lunchtime so it must be impossible in the summer months. The water was clean and the waves were great fun but sitting perched on the rocks as there was so little sand was not so much fun! The views in the way down are good and we also went to see the fort. I am also posting 2 before and a few after photos... A few locals did say a storm with winds in the other direction would probably reinstate the sand again...

Access to this beach is by means of a steep downward slope, but it is worth the trip, however bring a few euro with you to pay the guy with the jeep who will bring you back up after spending a wonderful day swimming and soaking up the sun!
