We found the beach depressing. There is a couple of metres of sand and the rest rocks so you need a lounger for any comfort. We had snorkeling gear so went in along the rocks. Saw a few small fish but that was it. After taking a taxi there from Mgarr we were really disappointed. Better getting the ferry taxi to Comino for the same price. It was rubbish

We saw in the reviews that this beach was so extremely beautiful and NOT AT ALL.
The beach is horrible, dirty and crowded. Also, as you are in front of Comino, there is a big amount of boats and jetskis passing all the time (imagine the noise). The most absurd thing is that there were even fishing boats just in front of this bay.

We read the negative reviews here and couldn’t believe them. Then we visited, yesterday, in August. It was hideously crowded, far too many cars were allowed to jam into the tiny bay and there was constant noise from construction of a new building which will presumably be an even bigger cheap cafe. This amazingly picturesque place and it’s beautiful tiny beach are ruined. The whole scene was hideous. Encouraged by another reviewer to do the walk from Mgarr port, we also did the half-hour walk in the scorching heat and enjoyed that very much. It was the best part of the whole experience. It took us only a few minutes to order a Bolt from here and head to Ramla. Save yourselves the time and money and go directly to Ramla (we noticed later that there is a bus service from Mgarr to Ramla).

The Hondoq Bay is one of the numerous beautiful bays of Gozo. There are two possibilities where to swim, either the beach of rocks.

It is a nice, smaller beach. There was quite a lot of people, but I ended up snorkelling the whole time along beatifull reef full of colourfull and joyfull fishes. I was amazed and never wanted to leave. I don't know if it is possible, but it seemed like there is not that much pressure underwater and water itself was very smooth and nice for swimming and diving, also very warm. Plus I defenitely recommend a delicious ice coffee, which is probably a speciality for Malta's beaches.

Very small stony beech.
Luckily there is a good parking area nearby, and other spaces on the steep road nearby. You can rent a umbrella when on the beach. There are a number of vans selling drinks, food and ice cream nearby. There is also the Joyride Gozo watersports tent in the car park where you can rent a boat, go to comino etc.

Amazing walks. The cafe is great and the food is amazing so is the ice cream and diving is great. The sunbeds and unbrellas are cheap.

We enjoyed walking from Mgarr harbour along the cliff top walk to Hindoq with spectacular views out over Comino and Malta beyond. Hondoq itself is a lovely small bay with a restaurant which gets busy in the summer season but is very quiet at the time of year we were most recently there (January)

This beach is one of the smallest I've ever seen: a very nice place for a walk on a chilly January day, but when the summer crowds hit it must be awful. The cafe wasn't open (which was a shame) and it's difficult to get there without a car - the walk is OK, just remember that walking back is all uphill! Still, beautiful views of Comino.
