- a cWirral, United Kingdom204 contributionsDangerous placeAs you sail in, it looks lovely and the water is a lovely blue, but I would not return. I found the place to be dangerous. Seen too many people slipping and falling. Too many people in a small area scrambling to get a place to sit and into the water. The money is not going back into this dangerous area. There needs to be more areas to relax and ladders off the rocks to enter the water safely. There are food, drinks and locker bars. Deckchair and parasol 15 euros. Would never returnVisited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 17, 2023
- AlexLondon, United Kingdom104 contributionsNot for everyoneWe decided to visit the Blue Lagoon in spite of the large number of poor reviews it gets. We visited on the first week of January. We had a great and memorable day. The good Aquamarine water even in the winter Sandy beach Not too busy before 10:30 am Amazing views during the hike around the island The not so good The food trucks (food/music/littering) The set up of the place: what appears ro be unlimited boats, the place to disembark We loved the views, the sand play, the rock formations ... The water was very cold but not disimilar than the England beaches in the summer. Unfortunately we spotted jellyfish close to the beach but that did not stop many from swimming. We would never visit in high season. There is simply not enough space by the beach for everyone.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 2, 2024
- Emily FAshford, United Kingdom28 contributionsBusy and some people rude but quite niceAll I saw were complaints about how busy it was and jellyfish. We went in peak season (middle of summer) and he’s it was slightly busy on land but once in the water it was fine. Didn’t see a single jellyfish while I was there. It was a bit difficult to get into the water because people were surrounding the coast and land. At one area the only way to get in was via a ladder, there were ladies posing for photos on the ladder. There was a huge que to get in the water but they were too busy posing. They wouldn’t listen when we told them to move. There are a lot of arrogant people everywhere you go though. But like I said once in the water it was lovely. We got some nice cocktails in pineapples which were really nice so I definetely recommend just for the experience even though it can be a bit overwhelming.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten February 9, 2024
- DebsWHwest11 contributionsTerrible welcome to a beautiful islandLanding point for any trip to Comino and not a great start once you have been wowed by the colour of the water. Busy and noisy with ridiculously load music on what should be considered a natural wonder. However take yourself away from the landing point and the island is a true gemVisited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 28, 2024
- Husk SDundrum, Ireland172 contributionsHead to St Mary’s Bay instead.Malta need to be careful as this paradise has been spoilt but ridiculously loud music, ignorant people galore and rubbish bins overflowing despite the clear hard work of the cleaners. The true beauty and tranquility lies at St Mary’s Bay, 20 minute walk in the opposite direction. This is more secluded, relaxed and has equally clear water.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 29, 2024
- Jo H181 contributionsToo much rubbish, too many peopleWhat a sad place this is to visit. When you get off one of the very many boats coming and going, you are met by a whole fleet of food trucks each one blasting its own music and shouting. The water is stunning to look at, but the island itself is just covered in rotten pineapples, plastic straws, plastic drink cups. People are climbing all over everywhere, there are no clear paths. There is just so many people there that you cannot appreciate the beauty of the place. You can see how much damage the people are creating by just walking all over everything, the plants and animals are really showing the signs of wear and tear. So sad that all these people are allegedly over to see a wonder of nature, but in reality its all about partying in groups all over the island.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 19, 2024
- nicole14 contributionsWalk a little to escape the crowds.I visited here in 1976 so I was naively shocked to see it now. Chaotic , rammed and burger vans alongside the hoards . However, not to be defeated , we walked 20 mins around the coast and found a very quiet spot with a couple of other intrepids. We swam here and thoroughly enjoyed our little jaunt.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 16, 2024
- flosventureArizona219 contributionsToo Many Tourists. It was an ok experience because there are, for my liking, too many tourists and boats. I was there for 1.5h as part of a tour and I'm glad I wasn't longer. There are some foodtrucks which seems a bit expensive, lockers, and a restroom. To the right and left, there are less people. The water is definitely amazingly blue and for a quick stop, a great place but I wouldn't want to spend a day there.Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 16, 2024
- Tamasine W69 contributionsBlue hue views!!!Beautiful sight to see! Clear sea that has the most magnificent blue hue and inside the haves the richest purples and greens at the waters’ edge. The boat operator points out the sights to see but if you are looking for more in depth discussion on the whys of these phenomena you will have to do your own research! The access was well run, efficient and safe! Very cost effective for the beautiful views. Definitely recommend it!Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 17, 2024
- Kerry ASt Helens, United Kingdom48 contributionsStunnin place but too over crowdedSuch a beautiful place but it felt like a cattle market. So many boats coming in, so many people. Food trucks everywhere but also litter everywhere. Couldn't find anywhere to sit. It was just over subscribed and not my cup of tea - I prefer less crowded places and peace and quiet unfortunately. It was stunning and I'd love to return when it is less busier in season. I'd love to swim in those blue waters and feel like I have elbow room next time.Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten August 10, 2024

You can get to Comino form Gozo and from Malta. We took ship from Gozo, because there was too windy and they were no departure from Malta. They are offering you trip with visiting caves on way back to Gozo for €15. But they will easily agree on €10 per person. Ships from Gozo will bring you directly to Blue Lagoone. We were on a trip in February and I still recommend You to take the first avaiable ship in the morning. We were petty only people on the blue Lagune and it was amazing. Clear water and little "beach" which you can enjoy. Then we walked around the whole island and it took us about 2 hours. It is beautifull but still I think is better without tons of tourists on it, even if you are one of them 😂 (normally there live only 3 people on the island)

What a joke. This is supposed to be a public beach but you can't move for deck chairs and parasols, it's a joke! The deck chairs cost an outrageous 25euro a day and are about 2cm apart. It's not like you have a choice, you either sit on a deck chair or you sit in garbage, rocks and rubbish bins. The deck chair sellers are rude and basically control access to the lagoon. You can't physically get to swim in the lagoon unless you fight through row upon row and walls of deck chairs. There is plastic trash, broken glass, rotting pineapple cocktails and loud music everywhere. If you want an example of how to completely ruin one of the most naturally beautiful swimming spots in the Mediterranean make sure to visit the Blue Lagoon (aka deck chair island).

When you arrive, with an overpriced short boat trip, the first thing you can see is the beautiful blue water but... One step on the island and the only thing you will be able to see are the "white rastas" that at the shout of "welcome to paradise" are trying to seel you some overpriced sunbeds when you could try unsuccesfuly to relax being stuck like glue to the other tourist. If you are lucky enough to arrive first. After ten the island is full at the point that you can just stand in between garbage and loud bad music, wishing the next boat will save you soon from that nightmare. In ten minutes walk there is a next "sand beach", that they sell as another paradise, offering another overpriced boat race. This beach is something like 30m of absolutely nothing special sand. At least there are not sharping stones ready to cut your feet and open your head if you fall. The baywatcher are mainly watching each other, so don't expect to feel safe. The nicer thing is the tower, when they made some movies scenes of famous movies. This place is the only quiet and nice one, because looks like the tourist totally don't care about it. So, walking trough the sharp rocks and garbage bags similar to corps, wasted flip flop, cans, and cigarettes rest, u might be able to see something decent. Dont misunderstand, the island itself is not so bad, just they ruin it too too much. They should definitely care more about this poor island, at least picking up the garbage. Sad.

Avoid Blue Lagoon Water Sports, we booked a boat ride back to mainland Malta for 1330. We were ready at 1320 and kept getting told it would be a few more minutes.
We eventually got on a boat at 1445, which was clearly not organised by them. They were chancers and we're trying to squeeze us on the return leg of another tour by asking drivers of boats as they pulled in.
They refused to give us a refund, stay away.
The blue lagoon itself was poor, very busy, with a lack of shade or places to sit. The cocktails were good but not a great experience, not worth the hype.

Blue lagoon has AMAZING crystal water. If you have never been in an island you have to visit the place. The only problem, which leads to this review is that it was so full that you couldn't stand anywhere. We were so close to one another that I was urged to leave this beautiful place.

Thanks to a sailing tour we fell in love with this splendid lagoon, but a stop of just over an hour was too little to fully enjoy its splendid crystal clear waters. So we decided to return a few days later with the first ferry in the morning and stay until 6pm, the time of the last ferry to return. We rented deckchairs and umbrellas at a really ridiculous price for the whole day and we were literally with our feet in the water. As good Livornese we are not afraid of rocks, so we had no problems. Possibility to also rent masks to explore the wonderful and crystal clear seabed. I recommend going very early because being small, it fills up quickly and it is difficult to find a seat. The cocktails that use pineapple as a "glass" that are sold throughout the island are nice.

Really over crowded .
Rocky to get to beach and the beach is very small and smells of diesel exhaust from the boat's.
Over priced €25 for a deckchairs and food and drink dear as well, would recommend staying at Malta for the beaches.

The Blue Lagoon as depicted in articles, adverts and reviews looks like a lost in paradise place, but in reality it's hell in water together with some 3000 tourists in a bay that measures 300m at most. Even if you go early, you are faced with empty deckchairs and umbrellas all over the place for 15Eur each (family of four = 60Eur). Deckchairs are laid touching each other, so privacy space 0cm. At about noon it was so overcrowded and noisy that I must say it was unpleasant. There is one ladder to go down (to cater hundreds of swimmers, hence you need to queue to go in the beach! Speedboats and luxury boats with loud music (like a competition) very close by. Yet the colour of the water is truly amazing. Another amazing place spoiled by overtourism and lack of enforcement and control. Going back to the boat was another nightmare, different operators and no organisation to know where is your boat.

We took a speedboat to the Blue Lagoon and it took 1/3 of the time that it would've taken by a cruise. If you feel more adventurous I would highly recommend this. This way you get to spend more time at the place enjoying the clear water. Remember to bring your snorkel. Although it's crowded it creates a great atmosphere.
PS: Try the cocktails poured in a pineapple:)

Through our hotel, we bought an excursion to Comino Laguna Blu in the afternoon with sunset but, after reading the reviews, we decided to opt for the morning, doing it on our own. Buses from Bugibba (they are really comfortable and punctual) soon and ferry.
Arrived there, we took two chairs + umbrella (all very attached on the rocks), at the "modical" price of 31 euros. It would be 30 but if you pay with the card 31 (illegal but they bet on the fact that no one wants to do things ..).
What about it? It is a natural pool, a splendor and a pleasure to swim in! What a pity indeed about the crowd and the flood of people disembarking from late morning, people even lying on the concrete sunbathing when , in fact, should not be allowed.
Well, we were right to avoid the afternoon, even though we lost money. Highly Recommendation at other times or going early.

Salve qualcuno sa se A blue lagoon c è spiaggia attrezzata o libera?
Written May 26, 2024
Ci sono sia aree attrezzate che non! In alta stagione è quasi impossibile trovare uno sdraio libero in realtà.

Hi! Could you tell me,if you advice to order Hop on hop off ?
Or it’s better by myself to see See-sights?
Written September 17, 2018
To visit blue lagoon you dont need hop on hop off. The island is so small, you can easily walk everywhere in less than 30 min. Just take the little ferry. But if you like to be independent of many tourists hire your own boat.
