The local guide that took us round was keen to point out every article in the museum. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer questions from our group too. There's quite a range of stuff! Well worth a visit if you have the time.

Surprisingly well done museum with an interesting collection of Svaneti artifacts from the past 2-3 thousand years. We had a superb English-speaking guide that made a big difference in appreciating the collection - highly recommend getting a guide. We especially enjoyed the icons and learning about the particulars of Svan iconography.

Amazingly well-stored collection of items dating back to as early as the 7th century. Well-organized and beautiful setting.

This is one of the best ethnographic museums I've ever visited. Svaneti has a long cultural history and this museum has artifacts and insight that spans it all. It's also beautifully filled.

I will be traveling to Georgia for 5 days in July and I'm planning to visit Kazbegi, Tblisi and Mtskheta and would like to know the best way to go about it. Also, does Mestia have many sightseeing spots/places that i shouldn't miss. I'm contemplating since it's a good 7 hours from Tblisi where I'll be staying mostly during my 5 day trip.
Any tips/suggestions are welcome since i'm visiting Georgia for the first time.
Thanks,
David J

Hi, 5 days its not much, but its enough for Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kazbegi. i think you will see everything in 3days in tbilisi and mtskheta, and 1 day is enough for kazbegi, its depends what you want to see, also you can go to Mestia instead of Kazbegi, for me Mestia is much better than Kazbegi, landscapes and views are much better but it needs 2-3 days, there is also flights from tbilisi to Mestia, which costs 65GEL. If you need more detailed info or something you can write to me on facebook m.david.jikia
