Milos Forman's film was enough to make as all have a little admiration for Mozart.
I felt let down by the London production of Schaffer's play as I felt the casting of the two main characters not believable. It was a bit like staging a Don Giovanni opera in modern day New York, which is not everyone's cup of Darjeeling. The costumes were great as was Salieri's storytelling. Hats off to Hibbard. Goodall's Amadeus was played just perfectly.
I could see it was difficult to pump up the volume on some of the passionate pieces due to the story being told at the same time but pausing the story a few times and okay yeah we could be there all night and besides there's only so many notes Joe Public could take in one evening.
I would have liked a few more black costumes and masks in the background only because I remember Mozart's father in the film and having seen Don Giovanni where it was first performed at The Estates Theatre. Despite me wanting to tweak little things I left feeling Wow that was good.

Brilliant production of Kiss Me Kate, but the seating was so uncomfortable. I am 5ft 2in & found it difficult to walk when I came out as my knees had been so cramped. A past ankle injury swelled up & I had difficulty sleeping afterwards as I couldn't move my foot during the performance. The seating needs to be adjusted as this is a brilliant theatre company, spoilt by the seating arrangements. I will think carefully before attending again.

Didn’t know Titchfield has a theatre and therefore just had to go. It amazing the production is superb front of house staff incredible and the co-ordination to get everyone parked is just unbelievable. You must go if you are in the area. At £10 for a ticket you can’t go wrong and you will have a great night!

We love to support local businesses and the arts so booked tickets to a couple of shows.
The play itself wasn't great but the experience was terrible. Firstly, there was nowhere to park. Secondly, the theatre was packed and, as there's no allocated seating, we struggled to find seats together. The seating is a joke. Anyone over 5' 6" will find themselves pinned into their seats with their legs spread wide apart to accommodate the seat in front. The theatre was boiling hot and there was no air circulation which made it feel like an environment that you wouldn't choose to spend any length of time in.
It's hard to understand why anyone would construct seating so tightly packed. It will impact your enjoyment. Go to a larger theatre or stay at home and watch something on Netflix from the comfort of your spacious and airy room!

They advised when our friends booked wedding that if needed the heating could be switched on. On the evening it got very cold and many people left because of that. When asked thamanager simply said "We cant" Spoiled a wonderful day ...

We were meant to marry here in 2020. When covid hit, in their fairness they were good. As long as you chase. However, the communication is shocking. Only email. Suppliers struggled to get hold of them to confirm the complicated music system. Plus the insurance can be tricky to get yourself. We ended up walking away. Even when we confirmed we had no option but to walk away, we had a one line email that basically said okay never mind. So disheartening. Like they didn’t care.
Obviously photos of other weddings look great, and then barn is pretty but you have to just trust your instincts and hope all fits in.

Brilliant play by Janette Evans last night. Really enjoyed the superb acting and sets and music really good too. My wife said “it’s the best play I’ve ever seen”. Great theatre but seating not the most comfortable. We often go to this theatre for the excellent productions. We are very lucky to have a theatre of this standard so close by.

Once again Titchfield Festival Theatre demonstrates its ability to go from the sublime to the ridiculous.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a production about the Suffragettes. It was superbly done and I learned a great deal of history in the course of watching the show. The cast was massive and there was very little to criticise.

More recently I saw their rendering of Joe Orton's "Entertaining Mr Sloane". There were only four characters in it, so all credit to the cast for learning their huge parts. There was a major problem, however, and that was that diction of the three younger actors was so poor that I simply could not understand half (this is no exaggeration) of what they were saying. Add to this the fact that one of the characters shouted his part throughout and I couldn't wait for the play to end. I checked during the interval and many other audience members were equally unable to understand the dialogue.

I blame the director for this. Quite possibly the actors were deliberately putting on "coarse" accents because of the parts they were playing. This is no excuse. Try watching "Birds of a Feather" on TV featuring much Cockney Rhyming Slang in a London or Essex accent and you can still understand every word which Linda Robson and Pauline Quirk say. A Director MUST ensure that all dialogue is clear enough to be understood.

This is absolutely essential if any play is to be enjoyed; if not, it might as well be spoken in Swahili for all the sense it makes. In completing the questions following this report I have put 2-3 hours for length of visit because that was the length of the play. Frankly, I'd have preferred not to have gone at all.

Technically TFT can be brilliant. Perhaps they should divert some of this brilliance to providing sub-titles for all their future productions.

We saw a wonderful production of ‘ello ‘ello which was brilliantly executed by the cast. The bar area was pleasant enough . The ‘downer’ was that the seating is incredibly cramped and uncomfortable and the theatre was unbearably hot, quite honestly had it not been such a good production we would have walked out.
Given that the theatre is undergoing some renovation there are issues, but unless the seating and air conditioning can be sorted we would not revisit or recommend .

We really wanted to encourage this amateur dramatic group who have their own excellent venue but someone has made a terrible mistake with the seating. Whilst I may be taller than average, when I sat down my knees were 5-6 inches in front of the back of the seat in front of me! There is not actually room to put your knees either side of the seat back because the seats are so close together and to make matters even worse - when someone sits down in the seat in front of you their seat moves another 3 inches back towards you! The theatre needs to find the receipt for the seats and send them back to the suppier in exchange for adult sized seats and then space the rows another 9 inches further apart!.
The show was not the greatest, but then we were there for my granddaughters and they enjoyed it.
Unfortunately I won't be returning there unless they completely change the seating.
