Explore the natural wonders of Funchal without having to do hours of research by going on this action-packed jeep trip. See vineyards and volcanic caves at São Vicente, get the chance to swim in natural pools at Port Moniz, and access incredible views from Cabo Girao. The tour is a great way to get off the beaten track and find sights of outstanding beauty that you might not discover alone.

Unique scenery in a landscape more like Scotland than the rest of this ‚tropical’ island. Walk to the end of the peninsula is easy to do, great views down the steep cliffs. Can be windy! Restaurant at end of the walk closed due to the pandemic. Remember to bring a swimsuit, there is a fine spot (small quay) down from the restaurant.

One of the most underrated parts of the island - the views from the coast are spectacular! The cliffs are completely bare showing the island's volcanic past and they fall straight into the raging sea, it's like scenery from a fantasy world. However, there's no facilities anywhere in the area so nobody wants to do tours round there. To get there you have to get past a recycling plant and a commercial port which is really offputting. It is such a shame that it is only a stopover for a photo call.

The place is easily accesible and shows you all the highlights of the area. Can be an alternative to doing the trail.

Viewpoint is a short drive further along from the Prainha roadsign - access road to the small car parking area is narrow but there are passing places. When we visited there was a flower seed seller - wish I could grow some of these back in UK! It’s only a short walk up to the edge of the cliffs where you get sweeping views along the peninsula (vista is cloud dependent!). Even though it’s not a difficult walk I would still recommend wearing footwear other than sandals as I did notice a couple of women slip on the stony/uneven ground. A big disappointment for me was looking down onto the small inlets and noticing all the litter washed up from goodness knows where in the world :-(

We visited on a classic Madeira day of changeable weather, which turned out to be ideal for this Miradouro. At the far Eastern corner of the island, it offers fantastic views along the North and South coastlines. The Southern side of the island was overcast and the sea appeared slate grey. We turned 180 degrees and the Northern side was basked in sunlight and the sea was a beautiful azure. Whatever the weather though, the views are stunning.
