Going up de very curvy road to pico de facho. Don’t drive to fast as the road is tricky.
Once up there you can climb a little higher to see two lovely sites of this beautiful island.
Great views of the valley and the airport. When being there the planes are below you! A strange feeling.
Once up there, don’t hesitate to ask the guy selling snacks about the island, the island in front of Madeira and he can even tel you what time the planes are landing and take off. Great to make different pictures.
A must to visit.

Definitely worth a stop, the views are wonderful and looking down onto the airport as aircraft take-off is unique

Myself and my Dad walked to the viewpoint from our hotel in Machico - it took under an hour - hard work but really worth the view! You can see how small the runway is and planes landing and taking off. A lot of people get taxis up here or coaches stop off on their way to destinations. There is a little snack bar where you can buy drinks or a well deserved ice cream :) The walk down was hard on your knees and through quiet residential streets so another nice part of Madeira to see.

We had a quick stop here on a drive around the Island. It is very high, a lovely look out over part of the city and the airport. Well worth the visit.

The views are terrific from here and you can see how skilled the pilots bringing visitors to Madeira are - amazing to watch! Something special to see.
It would be a great kindness if the travel companies and the refreshment sellers were to improve the life of the feral cats there too. If you are planning to visit and you care, please take some cat food with you 😀❤️😀

The road to Pico do Facho climbs steeply, winding its way up the hillside until you can’t go any further. There’s a little car park at the top, with a path leading around the peak.
The views are fantastic - out to sea, down to the nearby town and inland. The paths are a little ramshackle in places though. It never felt dangerous but a bit of maintenance on the path wouldn’t go amiss.

and cats galore! Great views of the eastern most part of Madeira. Plenty of fresh air and we saw locals having a barbecue.

We walked up to Pico do Facho from the city. Its about a 2 hour walk, but well worth it. You can see the city from above and also the arriving planes. Great view of the bay and sandy beach. Although the sky was cloudy it was still worth visiting.

Approx 2 hour hike either in the nature or the road (alternatively take take the car).
In the nature, there’s a path to follow and the climb can be sometimes tough.

Very brief stop before return back to hotels following Mimosa levada. Steep steps to a viewing platform that takes in the deserted isles, Baia D'Abra, Canical and Machico. Even got to see Porto Santo on the horizon on this clear day. Well worth a 15-20 stop for photos.
