This is a worthwhile visit and trek to get to the top. For older people or those considered out of shape this is considered very doable and is an aesthetic pathway upwards. The reason why this place only gets at TA 3 rating is that it was incredibly cold and windy when we visited which detracted tremendously from our enjoyment of the place. Nevertheless we still made the trek and did our best to enjoy the area despite the conditions. The view from the top is nice but not overly impressive. However, I would recommend visiting here if you're in the area.

The view from up there is awesome! Beware of the wind, and absolutely take the camera with you! The hike is not hard, there are some steps.

I came here a few times during my stay in Stykkisholmur and always found walking around the trail to be quite peaceful and relaxing. The island is connected to the town by a causeway and after a short flight of stairs the walk around is not difficult. There is a little path that will take you around in a loop, with great views of the town, harbor, sea, and little islands. There's also a cute little red lighthouse.

We visited Sugandisey this afternoon in the absolutely howling wind. The walk up with on wooden steps filled with gravel. Sturdy and easy to climb. Once up on the top, there are nice gravel paths leading around in several directions, each giving a nice view. The lighthouse at the top is small, but allows for great photo opportunity. We meandered around all the paths for about half an hour, and then headed back into town. The climb up was mildly strenuous, but not something the average person can’t handle. There is half hour parking right at the steps as well. Well worth the short visit required, for the views of the town and out to sea.

We took a detour to see the lighthouse and thank God we went there. What a beautiful small harbor front. The view from the lighthouse is gorgeous. We strolled there and really enjoyed the view of the city. Not to be missed if you are around.

Well worth the detour to go to this little gem with amazing ocean views. The little town is adorable and very quiet. Well worth the walk up to the little lighthouse too.

An island connected to Stykkisholmer. We just stumbled across this beautiful place. I just fell in love with it. 360 degree sweeping view of the sea, harbor and town. We stayed there long into the evening, the sunset was even more gorgeous. Little staircase to climb to the top with parking underneath. One of my favorite place in my 12 days drive of Iceland. This is the place I need to come back again, Snaefellsnes peninsula is just gorgeous, serene and beautiful.

We climbed Sugandisey to get a view of the lighthouse and pictures of the bay. It was a nice day out. The lighthouse is very small, but it's cute. The views of the bay are beautiful. It's not a hard climb - maybe 50 steps. It's worth stopping to spend 20 mins here.

Definitely worth the short walk up the staircase to explore this small cliff island that is connected to town by a causeway. If the weather is nice you can see many of the islands to the north and the town to the south. We enjoyed a rare Icelandic sunset from up here...

A "must stop" while in Stykkisholmur. The view is beautiful. My hubby enjoyed the old lighthouse. You should definitely make time for a stroll thru this area.
