This beach is beautiful! It is not safe to swim in, the water and the tides are very strong and unpredictable. It is usually very windy, but you will get a beautiful scenery. I would recommend anyone to go!

This place was beautiful and in the pictures the sand doesn't look very black, but it is. The beach is very majestic with the wind blowing on you, it does get a little chilly in the summer so dress in layers.

This was my highlight of the whole trip to Iceland, just the combination of black sand and waves, wind and sun with black rocks and Icelandic air! perfect. I could spend hours just walking on the beach and watching the most amazing waves.

We are so glad we made the trip to Vik to see these beaches. We arrived just a little before sunset and the beaches were offset by snow and the amazing golden/pink light that bathes winter Iceland for almost 5 hours each day. I had...More

Highly recommend to stop and take some pictures. About 10 min off main hwy 1. Stay for a coffee and watch the view from restaurant to warm up.

Yes...the same. .Reynisfjara is the beach with the huge basalt columns. While facing the water, the sea stacks will be on your left. It is incredibly dramatic and not to be missed. BUT...There is another Black Sand Beach... More
