About
The award-winning Lava Show is the only live show of its kind in the world - bringing the live experience of real lava to life in the most captivating, educational, and thrilling way imaginable. By superheating real lava up to 1100°C (2000°F) we recreate a volcanic eruption but take away all the dangers. In addition to learning about Icelandic volcanoes and how they have shaped the culture of the Icelandic people, you will see real lava flowing into the showroom right in front of you, hear it sizzling, smell the melting minerals, and feel the intense heat that radiates from it. A must-do experience for everyone visiting the land of ice and fire. Now in two locations, in Reykjavik and in Vík, on the South Coast with two completely different storylines. Vík is smaller, more intimate and dives into the mysteries of Katla volcano. Reykjavík is grander, more luxurious, and addresses the latest volcanic activity on the Reykjanes peninsula. Choose one or visit both - you won't regret it.

We booked the show at the recommendation of a local guide who said it was a great show. It was really informative to learn about the volcanic activity in Iceland and the demonstration of the lava was unreal. I would also recommend the show to anyone who has time in their itinerary to learn about lava.

Despite the bad weather and road conditions we managed to make it to the afternoon showing of the Icelandic Lava Show and I’m so glad we did!! We thoroughly enjoyed the show and seeing bubbling lava so close was amazing!! We were told it’s the only place in the world you can sit in a room and have lava poured out in front of you. The heat was intense so definitely take off a few layers when you sit down. The presenter was friendly and funny and interacts with the audience- which was a fairly small group. Despite being quite a new attraction it’s been very well put together and the fact that it’s a small family run business gives it a nice touch. We would definitely recommend seeing this while in Iceland!

As a travel professional I’m always excited to see new attractions enter the market. The Icelandic lava show was for me a perfect experience and I highly reccommend it to any local or traveller passing through Vik.

They have successfully created a show that links Iceland’s geology to our stunning volcanic history and doing so while maintaining a highly personal touch telling the story of the founders great grandfather during an eruption of Katla.

The show is operated by the co-founder Julius who is an excellent storyteller. He started this venture with his wife and gives the audience a great insight into the preparation process of pouring molten lava into a room full of people. The show continues with a video telling the story of Katla and explaining volcanos in more detail. Eventually lava flows in the room followed by a highly educational presentation by the founder. At the end the lava is broken into pieces and kids in the audience can get a closer look.

Intriguing, interresting, different and a highly entertaining attraction that I reccommend to everyone.

Went there with two children, 6 and almost 3. Had lunch at the soup company located in the same building and the owner Júlíus greeted us and took us for a magical ride, first by video and then by pouring that 1100° lava into the room and only 2 meters away from the crowd. He showed every aspect of the lava and answerred every question the crowd had and showed in detail just how the lava forms. A must see for all at least once. Prepare! Its going to get hot in that room very quickly so dress very light.

The Icelandic lava show was a sweet (or rather hot) surprise to us. We were originally hesitant to get tickets for the show as they looked very expensive, however, our tour to Katla ice cave that departed from there finished earlier we decided to give it a go. Surprisingly we were also given a discount for the opening anniversary.

The show was very informative with a lot of interesting facts about the volcano and a fascinating story about the owners. The hot lava running into the room was a great experience and one that is difficult to enjoy otherwise. We were even given a small souvenir at the end.

This lava show is very well prepared and executed. You will leave the show with s much better understanding and insight into the tectonic forces and volcanic eruptions on Iceland than when you arrived! In addition to the learning, you are witnessing running lava in real time right in front of you. The temperature rises, the glowing lava runs out towards the spectators, and the instructor demonstrates how the lava flows, runs, freezes, and creates different shapes and forms, including how lava caves are made. Very well done - a high quality show! Thanks to Julius and his wife who are the owner-managers here, Iceland has gotten a significant new attraction to offer. Julius is also a very insightfull and gifted teacher - great to hear him explain all the ins and outs of volcanos.

I went to the show with the family and we really enjoyed every minute of it. Julius, the founder, did an exceptionally good job interacting with the audience and also keep it interesting for the kids. We will definitely come again next summer.

Booked in advance. There's not much daylight in Iceland in the winter so I was glad to book this for me and my granddaughter, for the 6pm show, as daylight was not required. We landed in Keflavik at 4pm, and took the 45 minute journey into Reykjavik in a hire car straight from the airport. We arrived with 7 minutes to spare! What a start to our adventures in Iceland! France, our guide, was a minefield of facts and figures and entertained as well as educated us in a way that will stay with my 9 nine year old 'sponge' who is currently studying 'natural disasters' at school. This experience was very useful in creating a better understanding of Iceland's geology as it was revealed during the next two days of our short trip and I would recommend seeing this show before taking any of the main sightseeing tours. ( we did the golden circle tour the next day and seeing this beforehand was an invaluable precursor.)

We found the place merely by accident and went in for a soup, and then saw the ads for the show and decided to go.
And: it was INCREDIBLE! I LOVED it. I have been fascinated with volcanos for some time and to experience an eruption this close and this safe was absolutely amazing!
I know that I will always recommend this show!
Júlíus is so passionate about the show, explains everything so well and it was just wonderful to hear the lava crackling.
If you're thinking about going: DO IT!!! <3

Unfortunately this was a MAJOR disappointment and everything had the feeling of the business simply cashing in on tourists. This had been recommended to us and we walked 40 min to see the 'show'. Whilst the intro video was relatively informative - albeit overtly excited about the apocalyptic potential of volcanic eruptions - the production value does not compete what is available for free online. The actual flow-show was nice to see with some interesting facts but somewhat lacking in substance, structure and a sense of show. The tickets were very expensive and if you choose to go to see the show do not get the premium ticket (as the drink, small piece of lava and visit to the back room to see the furnace are simply not worth it). Please cut the presenter's autobiographical intro as it does not add anything to the show and similarly the sexist jokes lend a bad taste to the experience.
