Ribsafari - Boat Tours in Vestmannaeyjar offers fun and exciting entertainment in Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). We operate both RIB Boats as well as a passenger boat. Sailing around the islands in a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) is an experience you won't forget. You can choose to go on a one hour tour or a two hour tour. We will visit the elephant rock, go into sea caves, see puffins and other sea birds and more. On the two hour tour there are more changes to see also whales and seals. We will stop in between and the guide will tell you stories. On the passenger boat we sail around the main island, Heimaey and you will get guidance along the way, see puffins, visit a sea cave, see the elephant rock and more. We will tell you about our nature, volcanic eruption, wildlife, history etc.

MUST GO IF TRAVELING TO WESTMAN ISLANDS!

This was one of the highlights of my trip! Stunning views and a fun ride. The guide was very knowladgeable and the sailor was impressively skilled. I never once felt scared or in danger while there. We were on the one hour trip and plan on going to one of the longer trips when we come to Westman islands again 😀 soo much fun! Truly recommend if you have spare time, want to take pictures, or are an adreniline junkie or simply looking for something to do!

Best Activity of our Trip

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) did the 2-hour Rib Boat tour around the islands it was voted best activity of our 2-week trip. The tour guide ("Mike") and our captain (sorry, I didn't catch his name) were awesome with the music they played and the stories they told! There was just something so awesome about speeding through the ocean, jamming to an awesome playlist, and taking in the gorgeous views! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who asks. For those wondering, my husband and I generally get a little seasick. We had taken 1 dramamine pill before taking the ferry over to the island (still felt a little queasy on that), but had absolutely no sickness on this tour. The captain does an excellent job navigating the waters and there is so much to take in and fix your gaze, that you don't have to worry about your stomach.

Top experience in Iceland (and special shoutout to the amazing RIBsafari staff!)

This was an incredible tour and may very well have won as the top experience of our trip to Iceland. Breathtaking scenary, knowledgeable and engaging guide, and just thrilling enough for my 9 & 11 year old boys to feel exhilarated yet safe. Fun, fun, fun, FUN!

A special note of kudos to the RIBSafari staff:

We made a mistake in booking the tour on the larger boat rather than the RIB Having believed we booked the RIB, we boarded that boat which caused some confusion but the staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. In the end, we ended up on the tour we wanted (the RIB tour). Even though it was technically fully booked, they made it happen. I don't know how may tour operators would have been as understanding and flexible as these folks were. A thousand thanks to the good folks at RIBSafari!

Stop reading reviews and just book it. Yes it’s expensive but so worth it. We booked a 2 hour tour however the weather didn’t cooperate. Ribsafari texted and emailed us that although the 2 hour trip got canceled we could still do a modified 1 hour tour. Once we got out on the water it was clear that the 2 hour trip would have been too dangerous. I drive our boat at home and the captain was incredibly skillful in challenging seas. Made us feel safe while making sure we could experience the tour as intended. We had a 12 year old and 14 year old with us. Excellent service and family centered business. Don’t hesitate making this a stop on your trip.

Unforgettable experience!

What an amazing time we had on the 1 hour tour! They had great music and rocked the boat on beat to it which was super fun and you could see everybody smile their ears off during those parts.

The guides extremely professional and fun, we saw hundreds of puffins and a seal that kept poking his head out of the water to check us out, the views of the islands were truly gorgeous.

Also the suits they gave us were practically brand new and they keep them very clean.

Definitely recommend it for everybody!

Amazing experience

2-hour tour of Vestmann island was 100% worth it. Our guide « Weekend » was super friendly (as the rest of the staff) and knowledgeable, and the captain gave us a smooth and sporty ride. Check-in was simple, waterproof suit was high quality and comfortable. World class experience.

Unforgettable

This was the highlight of our first trip to Vestmannaeyjar, being born and raced in Iceland! The boat-trip was an amazing experience and a perfict way to see these islands in a different way. Congratulations to these hard working people of Ribsafari, who made our visit even grater. We will be back this summer and then with our 4 children (grown ups) :) my boys will the experince these damn two Volvo engines, first hand....you really feel the power of the 800hp 😎

Worth it!

We were lucky to have beautiful sunny weather when visiting the Westman Islands. This was a very fun tour, and the scenery is gorgeous. The guides are very enthusiastic, and are obviously knowledgeable about the island. I love rib tours, and this boat feels a lot less scary than others I have been on. My only criticism is that I wished they played Icelandic music. Icelandic artists create some of the most original music I have ever heard. Iceland, show off your talents!

Fast paced and fun!

One hour island tour. It was fast paced and fun. The music between sites was rockin' and they drive like you are on a rollercoaster. I was smiling the whole time. Not the boring educational tour I expected. But they did give you a lot of information on each site. Multiple caves you pull into.

Hints: No you don't get wet in calm seas. A drop or two if you lean out to get a photo at high speeds. I wore a sweater under the overalls and was too hot. Finally, the chances for whales are slim. The belugas are no longer there and the whales do visit the area but are not that frequent. But go any way!

We are so happy that you found the trip fun and not boring and education as you expected ☺ The belugas are going to be in Klettsvík in Vestmannaeyjar hopefully later this year and with other whales we never know if they are going to show up or not. It all depends on the fish the eat and how warm and cold it is in the area. But as we say we are more into showing you around the beautiful islands and hoping to have a blast with people. Great trip, expect load music, and a little thrill riding, but overall the staff are great and friendly.

Friendly staff, great views and overall a great experience. We had 8 people with the oldest at 76 and youngest 19. So we were a mixed group of family. Everyone enjoyed the trip and felt very safe. They do put a little excitement in driving the boat, but not too much to not give a little thrill. The music is load but was good. We did enjoy the music played. However, I did like when they took time to shut off the music and you could hear the birds and waves for a few minutes, and I suggest a few more moments like that would make the trip just a little better. Turn up the music when you are driving, but when sitting let a little nature take over for a bit. I don’t know if people know the birds in Iceland make different noises than in the states. Also if you don’t live along the coast you don’t get to hear the sounds of the ocean. We also got to see several Puffins diving and a little Icelandic history with some humor. Overall, it was a great experience and the staff was friendly.
