Now that I’m fully over my post holiday withdrawal syndrome. I finally had the time to write a proper review for the best guide I ever had.

Bjorn, a seemingly uninteresting guide picked us up at the airport. Little did we know, we are going to have one of the best trip of our life. The fact that I sign up TripAdvisor and leave my first ever comment speaks volume! I hope you are reading this Bjorn!

Not only he share his experience and history of growing up on the land of the midnight sun, he introduced us to his dad which also drives us around from west to east of this beautiful and brutal land. They never rush us. They both have a keen ear and taste of music which comes very handy when we have long drive in the car. They introduced us to his family, including their 21 horses in the stable. On top of their expert navigational skills, their vehicles are clean and warm all the time.

What I like the most is Bjorn stayed up late a few nights just to check the weather report for the next day just so he can change our itinerary in-order for us not to get stuck in the brutal weather and not enjoying ourselves.

Definitely will visit them again someday.

Being a family business, Bjorn definitely treat us like one of his family members when we travel with him.

We basically do not need to worry about anything, be it weather, road conditions, availability of activities. He's always there to ensure that we enjoy ourselves and have the best experience out of all the tours ( ice cave tour, glacier hike). He would check & choose the timing with the least tourists so that we can have the whole place to ourselves & take as much pictures as we want with no tourists in the background.

Even on those free and easy days , he would also constantly check on us , to ensure that we are safe, give us recommendations to keep us occupied.

I would highly recommend engaging iceland go tours

Our experience with Iceland Go Tours was amazing! Bjorn and his dad (intimately known by us as "Bear" and "Papa Bear") made us feel like we are part of a big family. I particularly enjoyed the spontaneous conversations throughout the trip which spans from Geography, History, Music, and all the way to Philosophy!

Weather in Iceland can be very erratic and it requires high level of flexibility to maximize our time in the country. In the face of bad weather, I think operators who couldn’t care less about your experience can insist on sticking with the itinerary and get away with it since it has been agreed upon.

In this regard, I highly appreciate Bjorn’s effort to readjust our itinerary when the weather went against us. The readjustments happened across a few days' worth of our itinerary (a large portion of our time in Iceland) which involved intricate coordination with multiple accommodation spots and operators. This clearly demonstrates that he cares for his guests, and would go the extra mile to ensure that we have the best experience possible in Iceland!

Wonderful people to travel with and they come highly recommended!

We engaged Bjorn for a 10 day trip to Iceland from 16 - 26 January 2023. From start to finish, Bjorn was easy to communicate with, quick with replies and made alterations to our itinerary based on feedback given on interests. Communication with him was a breeze even with an 8 hour time difference between us.

When we arrived in Iceland, we had 2 days of fantastic weather and then the storms started rolling in. Bjorn was constantly pre-empting the weather and road closures for us and made snappy decisions to change our itinerary a day prior to expected snow storms and closures. His quick decision making helped us to avoid travelling cross country during bad weather which would have led us to being grounded. I have to emphasis that the itinerary changes would have been absolutely painful for him as he had to change hotel bookings and tour bookings across almost 4 days worth of activities and accommodation. We are extremely grateful for the changes he made as we got much better weather later on and got to visit the sites. During the trip I feel like we did every winter activity possible, from dog sledding to ice caving, hiking a glacier, snorkelling Silfra, visiting both Blue & Sky Lagoons, photographing icebergs on Diamond Beach, chasing Gulfoss, Kirkufell and Skogafoss waterfalls, suepr jeeping into a canyon and admiring the beauty of the Glacier Lagoon.

The most enjoyable part of the trips were the car rides we took with Bjorn and his Dad Gunnar. We would play music, chat and fight over the usefulness of a DSLR camera and how the best phones were Samsung not Apple, to which we fought hard, but lost. We loved travelling with Iceland Go and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to travel to Iceland.

Bjorn was an excellent tour guide from Reykjavik down to Vik, and then through part of the Golden Circle. He never rushed us and actually encouraged us to stay in places longer than maybe we would have. He gave us history of the land he grew up in, answered our questions about local life, shared experiences and even was our photographer and gave us hints on how to take the best pictures of the waterfalls. 100% recommend this day tour with this family run business.

We did 2 private tours with Iceland Go this January. Golden circle tour in a super jeep and a South Coast tour. 2 amazing days. Both our guides were excellent. Being in our own group of 4 allowed us time to explore at our own pace. I would definitely use this company again.

Great father and son team. If you’re going to Iceland for a private tour you should use them without hesitation. Safe reliable and very friendly service and excellent knowledge of the terrain which is very important in view of the harsh terrain

I can't say enough good things about Bjorn and Iceland Go Tours! When first making the plan months before our trip, I was a little concerned because email responses were slightly slow. However, when the trip came over Christmas 2022, they went above and beyond.

Due to weather in Iceland, our flight was cancelled each day for four straight days. If you search for 'iceland airport closure december 2022' on Google, you'll see the stories of those stranded - not us luckily, but we still couldn't start our trip properly. Bjorn was very quick to respond, and probably spent more time re-working our plan each day then he did actually with us once we got there.

He picked us up at 2:30AM when we finally arrived, and was at our Airbnb at 8:00AM that morning to start the first tour day. Honestly it was like having a brother there, not dealing with an impersonal company. He even took us to the Sky Lagoon Christmas Eve, a day they are normally closed, so we didn't have to flag a taxi (not easy on the holiday).

He also advised not leaving the city our last day in town when it snowed because the roads would probably close and we'd be stuck. And sure enough, an hour later, all the roads out of town save the airport were closed while he took us to some museums around Reykjavik. Side Note: Why does Iceland not plow more than one road?

Every tour day was top notch and just the right pace. We seemed to time all the major attractions before the big busses arrived - we were at Secret Lagoon with maybe 12 people total, but as we're leaving, here comes busses with probably 30 people to check-in and change all at once....no thanks!

So all this service on top of being a decent bit cheaper than the other bigger companies made this our best decision for our trip. We are contemplating going back during a future Summer, and will definitely be using Iceland Go Tours again.

We just got back from our private 3D/2N tour of the South Coast and Golden Circle with Iceland Go Tours and have nothing but absolutely wonderful things to say about the entire experience! Communicating with Bjorn before the trip was easy and he was always responsive to any questions we had in the lead-up to the trip.

We had pretty unpredictable weather during our trip (warm for November but rainy) and it consistently felt like Bjorn was adjusting the stops to give us the best experiences available at that time; a personal touch you just won’t get on a larger bus tour.

Bjorn was a blast to hang with during our trip and was always happy to answer our silly questions and took great photos of us (and even taught us some fancy camera tricks)!

On the second night we were joined for dinner by his father, Gunnar, who would be driving us on our final day of trip. It was fun going out to dinner with both of them that night!

Bjorn went above and beyond in trying to help us see the Northern Lights, telling us what apps to download and websites to monitor. Even when we were apart, Bjorn was monitoring the weather and messaged us to tell us exact moment to go outside when we saw them! This wouldn’t have been possible without Bjorn.

Gunnar was fantastic as our guide for the last day, telling us stories about his time growing up in Iceland and all of the amazing sights we were seeing. Learning all about Gunnar and his family completely enhanced our tour in Iceland; he even showed us where he went to Kindergarten on our way back to our hotel In Reykjavik!

All of the accommodations and itinerary details throughout the 3 days were flawless and that’s all thanks to Iceland Go Tours. We highly recommend using them for your next tour of this amazing country!
