We had a brilliant food tour with Thor...we learned a lot about Icelandic food and enjoyed some absolutely delicious dishes. We did the tour as a family on our first day in Reykjavik and it set us up really well for the rest of the holiday..Thor was super-relaxed and friendly and helped us really understand the culture and history of Iceland, as well as the food. Our children have asked that we do a food tour every time we travel to somewhere new now!

When I booked this tour, I wondered at the high price. As always, you get what you pay for - you don’t just get to sample casual food, but get treated to some very fine dining as well. The portions were all very generous too. Very good selection of foods and restaurants and a fantastic and very knowledgeable guide. Well worth it!

I am big fan of Iceland and I am a food lover so this tour was perfect. Great food and interesting information about Iceland while I was eating amazing food. Eyglo (the guide) was super nice, it was almost like eating out with a recently met friend, who is knowledgeable and proud of her country and willing to share. I am happy I tried the local rye bread, which has this hint of sweetness and is not dry at all like other versions of it in commonly found in the neighbouring countries. I was also pleasantly surprised by the hot dog, which was also very special (the lamb and the sweet mustard gives it a distinctive taste). But my absolute favourite was the artic char. Finally, I advise you to try the summer beer (I had a delicious mango beer) and bring an empty stomach.

We cannot speak highly enough of our experience today, with our guide and host Dan, on the Reykjavík Food Walk. Dan was a knowledgeable and engaging host, and the selection of restaurants and foods to which he led us were all first class! In just over 3.5 hours we experienced a wide variety of restaurant styles and food offerings including: - Arctic charr with a honey glaze, potatoes and greens - Icelandic lamb meat soup - Rye bread with smoked trout - Flatbread with smoked lamb But our favourite was the famous ‘Icelandic hot dog with everything’ at Reykjavík’s first and still most famous fast food outlet: Bæjarins Bestu Pylsur In between tastings Dan led us through some of Reykjavik’s most interesting streets, was very knowledgeable about the city’s history and culture and happy to share that knowledge with us. Overall this was a four star experience which we cannot commend too highly. Thanks for a fantastic experience Dan!

We had a wonderful food walk with Juliana, an engaging and well-oriented host. The five places gave us a good mix of the tastes of Reykjavik, and the children liked it too - a must-do tour in Reykjavik!
