Quirky art piece. Great views of Reykjavik harbor.
A little out of the was, quirky art piece. I walked here from the Sga Museum, which took about 15 mins. Take care on the spiral walkway to the top as it is uneven with no guardrail. The views were lovely especially as it was almost sunset. There were some interesting restaurants I passed on the way.

    Freezing but great views!
Whilst in the harbour area it is worth the short (but slightly scary) walk around the hill to the top. The shed on top is full of rotting fish which if you stand in the wind, smells pretty bad! It was a freezing and windy day when we climbed up and the path being quite thin, was a bit slippy on the stones and grass, even in proper walking boots so just be careful. The views across the harbour and out to sea were very nice so I would recommend it.

    Meditative journey with oneself
I liked it. I liked the concept of such a simple place in the middle of the rushing and industrial harbor, an opportunity to stop, enjoy the views, and just be. The author, Ólöf Nordal, created the concept starting from the idea of a man-made hill and ending with the shack to dry fish. The trip up can be a bit dangerous due to the uneven stones, however, the strong wind gets through you so much that it seems that all of the tension is also blown away. Recommended to see.

Drive rather than walk to this place
We decided to take an afternoon walk from our hotel - it was almost 2 miles each way... which we slightly underestimated :) most of it is waterfront scenic but for some reason upon arrival I expected something else and as unique as it was it was a slight let down if I should be perfectly honest here Best part is probably the "circular/spiral" pathway to the top - pretty relaxing - also there is a bench near by where you can just sit down and chill. There is a small parking lot and most people drive a car to get here, some take bicycles and few of us walk - since this is somewhat a significant distance from the hotels through basically industrial area of the marina/where all of the FlyIceland/Omnom and the like are located

Yes, it is worth going here - and walk!
I disagree with the review that you should drive here and not walk. It is such a pleasant walk, and you will get to discover other tourist attractions along the way, two grocery stores, and the beautiful harbour. While visiting Þúfa, you can also visit The Living Art Museum. They're practically next to one another. It was refreshing to go a tourist attraction that is free. Both Þúfa and The Living Art Museum have no fee.

...unfortunately you won't be able to see it from the top right now as it's fenced off: the grass top layer of the mound has collapsed/come away in places so I guess they've deemed it unsafe to walk up pending any repairs.

Still, it's a nice enough view back towards the main city even from ground level but if you decide to skip it you won't be missing a lot

We were headed to omnomnom ice cream shop and the whales of Iceland. Saw this in the area so we headed here first from the Harpa area. It felt like quite a lengthy cold walk. It was nice going to the top and getting a good view of the city and mountains but it looks like the installation is falling apart on the bottom. They was a little house at the top where someone was drying out fish so it did have a strange scent at the top. Nice place to go in the summer I would assume when it’s not so windy and cold and only if you’re already in the area.

We decided to explore this on the way back from Perlan. We got the bus and got off about 10 min walk away. It was still snowing and everything looked super pretty. Enjoyed the spiral walk to the top and then the view of the mountains from the top of the exhibit. If you have time when you are exploring the old harbour it’s definitely worth a stop.

A great view of the city and harbor away from the crowds. Gorgeous views of the mountains. You can see the ships leave port for whale watching and other activities. It is quite the trek but worth it. It's great when is nice weather. A little gem when exploring the city.

The title pretty much says it all, we went to OmNom Chocolate to get a late evening Ice Cream and walk to here, because, well I'm not entirely sure.

Saying that its an interesting photo and gives a good view of the harbour and city. If you are here for a limited time then give it a miss, but if you like a walk and have seen all you want to see then why not (and its free).

We saw this from the waterfront and were curious, so decided to walk around to this manmade hill. Quiet a trek, but you pass bars, restaurants and interesting shops. When you get to the hill, the spiral walkway takes you to a drying house, where there are indeed fish hung up to dry. I was told it was an art installation which related to the local fishing village practice of drying and salting fish to preserve them.
It make a good focal point from the waterfront.
