We used RPC for our airport transfers and a couple of day tours as well. Great service and very knowledgable and helpful staff all around. Booking was easy enough and straighforward and our "special needs" were easy to fullfill. Our driver/guide knew his stuff and I must say he is both easygoing and fun to be around and helped make our trip a success. During the usually packed sights on the Golden Circle and the South Coast during Covid was pretty nice as there were no crowds and we pretty much had the place for ourselves plus a couple of "secret" spots as well made it all even more special.

Well, Reykjavik Private Cars is a driver company. Wrong, they are a VIP driver company, like they call themselves. Of course, having a couple of mediocre options previous model Mercedes-Benz makes them no less than VIP. Maybe even that is too modest. Especially taking into account that driver/owner Baldur smokes cheap stuff at every possible stop and the cars smell like ashtrays in public toilets. Part of VIP package maybe. But this isn't a real problem. The problem is that obviously there is not so much demand for pure driving from A to B in Iceland, so they start to mess with arrangements of holiday sightseeing/activities programs, which is a territory of tour operators. And which they are no good at all with - simply because they are just a driver, no, VIP driver company. So, they don't have much clue about possible expectations of customers, who on one hand traveled around the world and on the other hand can afford to pay euro 1000-1200+ per day just for a car with driver that Baldur & Co. charge, with any program involving 3rd parties being on top of that. Like, for example, these customers don't expect to be brought to exactly same places that you can find in any guide-book or on any site about Iceland and where all group tours buses + all individual travelers renting cars are coming to. In my world, when you book private and pay this kind of money, it should get you some insider knowledge from the tour operator to bring you somewhere "off the beaten path", like it is called. Especially since in case of Iceland we speak about nature only: vistas, waterfalls, mountains, glaciers and there is no deficit of all of it in the country. With a little preparation should be possible to find places without crowds. OK, except my RPC friends are not any tour operator, they are VIP drivers, why should they bother? They think that their semi-used Mercedes should give you all the thrill you need. Right, I have never seen a sad old model Mercedes before, need to come all the way to Iceland for that. After returning home from Iceland, our travel agent sent a mail to RPC forwarding some of my comments and also mentioning that my wife and myself didn't find it proper that driver-owner Baldur felt free to be joining us uninvited on some activities they arranged for us through 3rd parties. Like snowmobile and helicopter trips. We paid to have them to be private and there were no reasons for him to join except his own entertainment – much more fun than waiting for us in the car, isn't it? - We are VIP, we are top, we are touching the sun, there is nobody better than us in Iceland and in the whole world. If you don't appreciate it - you are not a VIP customer. You are cheap and you want to travel cheap (this is based on the fact that our travel agent doubted some of their prices on our behalf, when the program was still in preparation), but at the same time you want to cheat the universal laws and ride with stars like us - VIP Reykjavik VIP Private VIP Cars. Quintessence of lengthy answer that came from Baldur was. We paid, wrong: RPC honoured us to accept only just a bit less than euro 16.000 for 8 days program for 2 people not counting day of arrival and day of departure having only airport transfers. And this is not taking hotels into consideration. We got away cheaply, didn't we? Well, of course there were interesting things during our trip, where they subcontracted 3rd parties: Ice Lagoon, Katla Caves, same helicopter mentioned above. But, believe me, for this money you can get much better experiences and much-much-much better service in any other part of the world. But one thing he is definitely right about: I am not a VIP at all. I am just an ordinary person, who earns enough to be able to allow some nice things in life among them to follow his and his wife's hobby of traveling around the world and who can afford to make all these trips privately booked for the last 20 years. And people, like Baldur, who divide others into categories: VIP, no-VIP, not-VIP-enough - they deserve nothing, but contempt. And this is the only feeling I have left for him and his little driver kiosk.

Booked a Dacia Duster 4x4 for our few days in Iceland collect from airport and return studded tyres and sat nav included with Reykjavik Cars who set up hire via Lava Cars who met us in the airport with a name board and took us to the depot the Duster proved an ideal car with snow on the road and with all its extras was just the vehicle to take us round the area heater was perfect and seemed to be an ecomonical car too. On returning the car we were taken back to the airport in minutes service by Lava Cars could not be faulted they even pointed out the dents prior to us collecting the car so problems on its return. We enjoyed 5 days in Iceland everyone we met was friendly and spoke english.

Second time with Reykjavik Private Cars. This time we toured the Western and Northern parts of Iceland, in addition to using this company for seamless airport arrival and departure. Besides the standard attractions ( Ice Cave, Blue Lagoon, etc) our driver, Valtyr Gunnlaugsson, also took us to the Shark Museum. Little known and well worth the stop. He was very knowledgable, observant and with a good sense of humor. We traveled with him for 3 full days in a Mercedes SUV (Valtyr washed it every night for the next day. Class!) and we felt comfortable and cared for the whole time. If you will email them about what you wish to see they will provide valuable help in a sensible itinerary. The cost was quite reasonable for the excellent services rendered.

My husband and I recently (August) went on the Golden Circle Tour (whole day) with Reykjavik Private Cars. The service was excellent, the tour was informative and best of all it was flexible to suit our needs. Would definitely recommend.
