Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on location | Free Photos

While most people don't associate Iceland with snorkeling, the cool Nordic country actually offers plenty of underwater marvels -- you'll just need a wetsuit. With this experience, a professional guide will take you to Silfra, a fissure between North America and Europe in Thingvellir National Park that marks where the two continental plates are slowly drifting apart. You and your group will get a chance to spend around 40 minutes in the water before heading back to shore.

Silfra Drysuit Snorkeling with pick up | Free Photos

Snorkeling in a fissure caused by two tectonic plates drifting apart is something you can't do everyday! Silfra is the name of a big 'crack' stretching parallel to the North American and a micro-plate called Hreppar that broken off from the Eurasian plate.

Silfra has world-renowned clear and drinkable water with over 100 metre visibility daily. This is unlike any tour you can do in Iceland and is something you can't do anywhere else in the world.

We are the only company to offer wetsuit and drysuit. This means members of your group can book different options and still be together in the water.

We include photos and usually take around 40-100 photos as standard depending on the size of the tour and you will be able to download them after at least a few days.

We always have small groups, 6 people per guide. This allows for a better and more personal feel. If you have a group of 7 or more you can be together preparing your equipment but in the water some of you will be separate.

Ivan introduced the drysuit and the Silfra Fissure to us. He was very flexible and open minded. We had an amazing and interesting afternoon even though it was cold.

I had the pleasure to snorkel in Silfra with Adventure Vikings. It was a great experience - it's hard to describe a feeling of "like I was flying". I was snorkeling with Ivan, who was wearing a wet suit - he was taking pictures not only on the surface but also from a few meters dives. I strongly recommend it!

This was the one thing I wanted to do whilst I was in Iceland, and my did it exceed my expectations. Our guide Ivan was super friendly and informative adding to this very memorable experience. For people who are thinking between the wetsuit option or the dry suit option I can not recommend the wet suit option enough. Being able to dive down below the surface is definitely worth getting slightly cold. And it definitely doesn't feel as cold as you think it's going to be. Once in the water you will spend the entire time in ore of the beauty and clarity underneath the water. Can not recommend this activity and Adventure Vikings enough. Two very happy customers.
