It was cold and rainy... the rough swallows balls... I was attacked by a seagull... and it was one of the greatest golf experiences I have ever had!

Brautarholt is one of the most stunning locations I've ever played. Don't let the scorecard fool you: 4974 off the yellows might sound fairly short, but it is very challenging and plays far longer than the yard markers would have you believe (mid-to-high handicappers, like me, will find the tee shot on 9 especially intimidating).

Their visitors package is especially good, with greens fees, rental clubs AND r/t transportation from your Reykjavik hotel all bundled into one very reasonable price.

If you were planning to play golf in Iceland you can't miss Brautarholt. If you're a golfer and were not planning on playing, you should reconsider.

Played the course in late-October on a cool and somewhat windy day. Classic Iceland weather. As discussed in other entries, the views are spectacular, especially looking back from green on #1 towards the clubhouse and mountain background. The course was in excellent condition for being in late-October. Definitely need to pay attention to wind direction, as it’s easy to land in tall grass off of fairways. It will be interesting to see the completed 18-hole complex once its finished in late-2018. Definitely get the Golf Package deal as the course picks you up at your hotel. It’s a hard place to locate otherwise. Enjoy the views and the Golf.

Wow!! Each hole is a postcard photo. A very picturesque course with amazing views. My only complaint is the course is not marked well for distances. They only have markers for 200, 150, 100, and 50 meters. Course is in great shape and staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Playing Brautarholt is a wonderful experience. Senior Golfers of America held an event here in August, and the players were absolutely delighted with the stunning beauty of almost every hole.

It was compared to the legendary Pebble Beach, but with almost every hole as breathtaking as the signature hole at Pebble.

Brautarholt is a must-play for the true golf enthusiast. It’s exhilarating!

This is a small, sometimes difficult but beautiful course on the water. Our group of 16 played a round past midnight and saw breathtaking borderline sunset and sunrise views in this land of the midnight sun. Some of the cart paths to the different tee areas were not well marked which made our time more adventurous. We all lost balls but all had a very good time.

Brautarholti Golf is a 9 hole course and I was a bit sceptical since it seemed rather short (red tee). I started off from the yellow tee but soon found out that next to being hilly, also wind, rough, steep cliffs and of course the unforseen intervention of elves :-) make the course more difficult than it looks so I quickly switched back to the red tee. It was a good mixture of length and difficulty of the holes, e. g. after having lost a ball or two on one hole, it felt good to play par one the next one.
The absolutely add-on on this course is however the view and the landscape. It was absolutely stunning! During the first 9 holes I couldn't quit taking photos or now and then just to sit down and take in this beauty. Even if your partner or kids don't play - bring them and let them see this. There are walking paths around the course and the first church of Iceland was built closeby and it's worth having a quick look at that.
My recommendation: have to play!!

We visited Brautarholt golfcourse and played 12 holes in august. Layout of the course is fantastic, close to Antlantic with beautiful views. Fairways green and soft, greens very nice. You have to keep your game together to score? but youwill anyway enjoy the fantastic views. We played at a day witout a cloud in the sky and almost no wind! A fantastic experience!!! We will be back again for surely!

When choosing a few courses to play on our annual guys golf trip, this came up and was the most anticipated experience of all of the clubs.

The Great
They were super responsive, even in winter/spring when we first made contact.
The course was well kept, challenging, and well marked.

The Good
This could be seen as a negative to some, but there are currently only 12 holes. I'm giving it a good rating because I got to play 6 of the amazing front 9 holes a second time.

The Bad
My buddy Rob's stroke count memory when it was time to fill in the scorecard.
Nothing bad about he course - period.

If you're a golfer, you must play this course when in Iceland.

My wife and I have played at courses all over the world. You will find very few with the unbelievable views from this course. From the cliffs at the ocean to the lava fields for rough, this course has it all. The golf package was great, as they picked us up from our hotel, provided quality clubs and returned us after the round.

My wife and myself played here last week during a holiday in Iceland. The location is breath-taking, with the first 6 holes being along the coast, before heading back inland to the clubhouse. It's an unusual golf course, having only 12 holes at present, although there is a possibility that it may be extended to 18 in due course. The 1st hole is stunning, however you look at it. The tee shot looks intimidating, with fairway bunkers and a wetland area at about driving distance, and then you have to make a decision; do you go for a long blind shot onto an exposed green on this par 5, or do you lay up and wedge it in. When you get to the green you realise how stunning the location is - the back of the green drops down a cliff into the sea, so anything hit too long is a lost ball. The view back to hole 1 from the path to tee 2 is simply terrific. After that, the excitement levels drop off a little, but the front 9 are all good and challenging golf holes. The final 3 are clearly still being worked on, as there is a lot of GUR, but they make an interesting finish to the round. What is also very impressive is the quality of the playing surfaces. The greens are pure fescue, and are fast and true, with some subtle shaping which makes you concentrate. This is a golf course that you really should visit if you're thinking of golfing in Iceland. You'll never forget it.
