Welcoming, offering helpful advice, no pressure, no rush. And you know you will own an artistic and one of a kind piece. Not mass merchandized stuff from touristy stores. From home decor to Summer (yes, Summer) outfits to Winter hats, gloves, scarves to jewelry. All creative and skillfully made. Visiting the store is like visiting a friend, feasting your eyes at an art studio. Well worth a detour.

Awesome shop owned by a very creative woman. It is a little ways off the beaten path, but I walked to it from Harpa and found it pretty easy walking along the sea walk. I wanted to buy everything in the store! The owner, Signour, was very accommodating and spoke of the history of a specific design, or creative work of friends. Like a button made from sheep horn. She was on her way to an exhibition, but she was very gracious in her time spent with me.
I did notice that the Harpa gift shop, Epal Design, also carried SES DESIGN texting mittens and hats, but the SES store has many more items.
FYI, her website is no longer valid, but the Tripadvisor info and Facebook are all current.
Happy shopping!!!

I visited Reykjavik last summer and picked up a hat for my son while I was pregnant. This winter, no longer a newborn, he had outgrown it and I really wanted another for him so I contacted SES and was offered to have some new ones personally made for him and sent to me in Britain. I have never had such kind service from any shop in my life and the quality of the hats are amazing.

This little place is well worth a visit. Everything is handmade. I loved the tunics and the dresses with the two fabrics, colorful and classy, as well as the flowy blouses. Original and unique twists on classic items.
The wool products (hats, ear warmers, pillows...) and not to mention the jewelry are all very Icelandic but nothing you would find in the typical tourist store. A true treasure.

At SES design you will find creative Icelandic wool-work and clothing with a twist! It is handmade, mostly back at the shop and is worlds apart from most allegedly "traditional Icelandic" woolen goods you will find in the tourist shops downtown.
I immediately fell in love with the beautiful wirst warmers pictured and Sigga, the owner of the shop, also does the most beautiful, felted pillow covers, each depicting another mountain/glacier typical for Iceland. If you want to take some unique souvenirs back home to your lovelies, this is the place to go.
Plus: on the short walk from the city center to SES design, you walk by the coastline with it's breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Esja, a nearby sight and popular hiking spot.

Easily accessible either by public transportation or a nice walk (around 15 minutes from 'Harpa') the shop is located in the west Reykjavik.
Arriving one finds a cozy shop/show-room and senses the workshop just behind the counter. It’s nice to be assisted in a careful and exclusive way by the owner who is also the designer. It was very special to learn the production techniques and to visit the workshop.
Incredible beautiful wool mittens (fingerless gloves), cups, hats, scarfs, coats. Wonderful colors and stunning combinations are ready to warm up all family as there is a wide variety of patterns and sizes. And the prices are very convenient (for local standard). Beautiful dresses and ‘ethnic’ t-shirts are also available.
I took three different winter cups for my nieces’ to wear next winter that I found in the ‘sale’ basket.
A ‘MUST’ this small detour to find something genuine and authentic like the inner warmth in the heart of Icelanders.

In the boutique of SES design you find fashionable and lovely wool and cotton clothing with an icelandic and exotic twist to fair and reasonable price. The use of colours and combination of materials is both artistic and unique.
The shop and the connected workshop is absolutely worth a visit.
