We walked around the large pond in the center of Reykjavík through a great park. On the other side we could see this church and walked to it through other various scenic gardens. It stood out in the area. Not open when we visited but...More

This is a beautiful church and it was a great spot for photos. It wasn't on our list of locations - but we were lucky to find it.

Popped into this local piece of history while walking the area. Built originally in 1847 and current building is well maintained. The interior is both beautiful and serene and the stained glass windows are art in themselves. Look,up,and towards the back to see the Awesome...More

Really photogenic church that sits by the lake in the centre of Reykjavik. Little disappointing that it seems to be closed most of the time but worth stopping by for photos either close up, or better still from across the water.

This is a lovely little church that sits along the pond in downtown Reykjavik. I believe it's rarely open to visitors, but I had the opportunity to see a music performance there during Iceland Airwaves, and I can attest that it is also lovely inside!...More

This is a functioning church, usually closed but if you check the window box by the door there are often concerts. Excellent concerts during Iceland Airwaves (must have festival ticket). We saw a children's choir perform ad it was charming.

Always has been a beautiful sight downtown. It's small and not open to the public but given it's location it is well marked and there is a sign outside. It does function as a church but I have never seen it open even during the...More

This pretty Lutheran free church sits between Austurvöllur Square and Lake Tjörnin. It was designed by architect Rögnvaldur Ólafsson and consecrated in 1903 although it had been lengthened twice since.

This is a culturally significant church and another one in white and green colours - effectively an archetypally Icelandic build for such an establishment - worth having a look at it as part of a tour of this part of the capital. Enough space around...More
