In the permanent exposition, there is a lot of explanation in the videos inside the museum. It tells us the story of Iceland since the first one who stepped there till actual time. Unfortunately there was some pieces out. There is a place for children...More

The artifact collection is excellent and tells the story of Iceland. However the designers of the exhibits do not know how to present the artifacts to their best. Management: The lighting on the artifacts is very low. Well, there is lighting technology such as LED...More

If you love history and Vikings, you'll love this museum. The national history museum tells the story of the settlement of Iceland, and showcases the rich history and artifacts of the Icelandic nation.

One of my favorite museums in Reykjavic . There is plenty to see and many varied ways to see it, with visual aids and interactive displays. I would put it in the top five of places to see in Reykjavik

Good info and stuff, but think the entrance fee is a bit hefty, luckily, kids are free. Free parking or a 15 minutes easy walk from Hallgrimskirkj.

Hi, clearly this depends on a variety of factors (interest, knowledge, with kids..?), but as a general suggestion; try 2 hrs and add a coffee break. Enjoy!
