Nice walking and shopping street running up the spine of center city. Small shops on both sides of the street selling clothing, souvenirs and other types of retailers. Restaurants, cafes and bakeries are also lining this heavy travelled pedestrian street. This street is sometimes closed...More

Nice main street that you'll definitely come across. Most of the stores in town are here. Overall good, but quite tourist focused. Overall Reykjavik seemed more geared toward English speaking tourists than Icelanders. Some places- like Chuck Norris cafe and the Big Lebowski cafe make...More

There are so many small shops, lucky us, we stayed very close by. You can find very good quality products and good gifts for your family, friends with vary range. The restaurants are little bit pricy. Well, Iceland seems expensive everywhere.

This is the main shopping strip on the island, but not the only place where you can shop. It is a must see, since most of the stores are here. You can buy practically anything from tourist items to high value jewelry.

Nice to visit Laugavegur with the family. Many (tourist) shops but also nice bars and other shops. Certainly worth a stroll through!

It's the most famous street of the city. Basically it is an infinite succession of gift shops for tourists and restaurant. Nothing very authentic or original. Anyhow after a week in small villages it's nice to stroll looking at shops and menus

Our Rick Steves self guided walking tour walked us down this street, and we ended up buying little souvenirs for our family and friends in the shops that line this street.

Very nice shopping street, but overflowing with more-or-less identical tourist shops where you can buy the same souvenir trinkets. Some very nice places to eat and rest for a bit between shopping sprees.

Street has numerous shops with various souvenirs, clothing, blue lagoon shop, and various bars/restaurants. Full of tourists like ourselves, but clean, safe, and easy to navigate around.

Generally, no. We were there late in the summer and things seemed to wind down by 5 or 6pm. The bars and bigger restaurants remained open.
