My husband, 15 year-old and I did three tours with Gunnar: The Golden Circle, The South Coast and the Snaefellsness Peninsula. Not only did we enjoy the rides but also Gunnar's company, reliability and thoughtfulness. He is punctual, drives carefully, and surprises you with extra touches. For instance, when I mentioned that I would love to try Icelandic beef soup, he bought me one. He also made stops along the way to buy us fresh mushrooms, strawberries and ice cream. If we ever return to Iceland (and I hope we do), we will not hesitate to hire him again.

My husband and I traveled around Iceland for 6 days with Gunnar as our tour guide/driver. I cannot imagine a better way to experience this majestic location. Initially we had hoped for a small group tour, but due to pandemic, we ended up booking a private tour. Gunnar planned our itinerary ahead of time -though was open to changes before the trip and along the route. He was a constant source of information and fun -and, also understood when we needed a break/rest or rearing to go! Touring with a local allows for such a rich experience. I would highly recommend Gunnar and Friend in Iceland Tours.

A trip adjusted to the weather to maximise our visit and our time at each stop with no pressure. Great transport, nice accomodation and a fantastic experience. We especially loved the lights, the ice caves, the tinkling of the 'diamonds' on the beach and the snowy expanse of the south east. I would very much recommend. Thank you Gunnar !

Gunnar and Saga were our guides, they were very kind, patient, thoughtful and accommodating! Even though Iceland weather was unpredictable, we had fun on rainy days, and still went to all the outdoor locations when the weather permitted. Gunnar and Saga made the experiences extra fun! We felt very taken care of and welcomed. Thank you so much for making our trip memorable. Highly recommend, and most likely will revisit Iceland during another season with Friends In Iceland!

We did the Golden Circle and the South Coast on two different days. Krystjan was our guide and driver for both. He was very friendly and informative taking us to places we would never have found.on our own. We were lucky to be the only family on in the minibus which enabled him to be completely flexible on timings. He even got our son a book of yule lads about trolls when he found out it was his birthday. Great service I thoroughly recommend this company.

I'm skippering the yacht AVALANCHE around the world. After long, difficult ocean passages, we often need assistance in a variety of areas. We first found Gunnar of "Friend in Iceland" because we needed to rent a car for transportation to purchase supplies and to explore Iceland. Gunnar was so helpful that we asked him to set us up to go white water kayaking. He did and our day kayaking was wonderful. Gunnar and I became actual friends. Of course we needed more help from Gunnar to do such things as sail repair, diesel fuel, clean the bottom of our yacht, food purchases, and so on. Gunnar became a wonderful friend and didn't even hesitate for a second to help us with many things that he didn't charge us money for! There was no limit to what Gunnar would do to help us get Avalanche ready for her next leg to the Faroe Islands! Gunnar is a terrific resource and a wonderful guy! Gunnar became the most helpful person in the 18,000 miles, 1/3 of the way around the world, that we have encountered yet! If you travel to Reykjavik, and I recommend that you do, you should visit Gunnar at "Friend in Iceland" before you do anything else! Gunnar is a gem! John Barry III, Skipper of the yacht AVALANCHE

We had a group of 8 visited Iceland for 8 days 7 nights.Jane was our guide and driver. She was very professional to discuss our plan before we arrived Iceland. We were luckily enough visited all the places we wanted to visit. Iceland weather was cloudy during our visitation but we luckily enough to see northern light at night, it was amazing experience to see the sky cover with dancing aurora. Friend in Iceland is truth and reliable company with reasonable price and provide great service throughly recommended it.

6 ladies, a birthday and 5 days of weather dependent, flexible touring on our schedule made this trip unforgettable. Gus, the owner/guide was amazing and will give your group an upclose view of a real Icelander, the country and local flavor. We went to the usual tourist spots, many local spots, off roading for the Northern Lights and his recommendations for food were spot on. He was flexible and helpful to all of our needs. We coined his pearls of wisdom as "Gus-isms" and we couldn't help but smile when we were with him. Highly recommend!

I just toured Iceland with my family and our close friends, in total 13 of us. My husband started his research about Iceland since Aug15, and later found Friend in Iceland. Through few emails correspondence, we decided to use "Friend" as our land tour operator.

As the travel date got nearer, Mr Gunnar Sigurdsson (Gus), GM of "Friend", will email us with some weather forecast, reminder for what to bring for our 1st stop at Blue Lagoon upon arrival etc etc and we got real excited to get ready for our trip.

Gus is a very experience guide and he really knows everything under the beautiful blue Icelandic sky. There's almost nothing he doesn't know. He's very sharp (especially his ears :p ), attentive and gone the extra miles, does lots of extras so that we get to see and play and enjoy as much as sceneries as the time permits, especially the day is long during the summer (mind you, the temperature is still a single digit!!). We don't come to Iceland often, or maybe just this once, so he wanted us to see and experience as much as possible.

Gus drove us up the glacier, past the highest point, and we get to play on the snow. Not once, but twice. These have saved us a lot of money from the helicopter ride which costs hundreds of Euros. He also proudly brought us to many waterfalls, each gotten their own beauty. We all love the geysers at Geysir region.
He even treated us to the best homemade ice cream and well known in Iceland, Brynja.

There are so many things we love in Iceland. We have very good weather (other than cold, especially the wind). Rain when we were travelling in the coach, stopped when we reached destinations. Experienced light snowing when we just checked into the hotel in

A little tips for people who want to tour Iceland. When they say summer (I meant in the month of May) in Iceland, don't ever think of hot!! It can still be a single digit weather, still need gloves, scarves and warm jackets. Heat pad also can be on the list. Sunglasses is a MUST!! Need a pair of good, comfortable, non-slip and light walking shoes.

There are so much to see and enjoy, so cameras are needed, although 98% of us only used our mobile phones to take photos.

Icelandic Kronas can only be exchanged in Iceland, either by Great Britain Pounds or Euro. Either changed at the airport, the bank counter is on the left after the Customs exit, but that is always long queue. Otherwise can change from Banks.

Before I end off, anyone who wants to tour Iceland, lookout for "Friend in Iceland", they are really your only Friend you must have in Iceland.
They can custom-made your itinerary and cater to your needs.
A special thanks to Gus who made our holiday most fulfilling and thrilling and worth every single cent we spent.

Thank you.
